Good news, Avalanche fans:

Star center Nathan MacKinnon said Saturday morning that he will play Sunday at Vegas after missing one game with a lower-body injury.

“Feel good, ready to go,” said MacKinnon, who has 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) in 11 games.

MacKinnon was hurt Jan. 31 in the Avalanche’s 4-3 overtime loss to Minnesota and didn’t play Feb. 2 in a 2-1 win against the Wild.

The next five games were postponed because of COVID-19 protocol, so MacKinnon and his injured teammates had to rehab at home while under quarantine.

“It was tough, I had exercises to do,” he said. “I feel really, really good coming back. I’m excited to start to go play and get into a rhythm here and start playing every other day again.”

Coach Jared Bednar didn't talk after practice.

Defenseman Devon Toews and center Pierre-Edouard Bellemare also are expected to play. Each missed the past three games with lower-body injuries.

MacKinnon was asked about MacKinnon Krunch, a crunchy cornflakes cereal that’s being sold in selected stores in Colorado. (I had some for breakfast the other day and it’s good).

“It’s cool, man, obviously,” he said. “I’m not sure how it’s selling, but I’ve had a couple pictures sent to me and people seem to like it. Obviously, it’s not a Wheaties thing or anything, but it’s cool for sure.”
