The Anaheim Ducks picked up an important 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings last night.

This was Anaheim’s best game of the season. The Ducks outshot the Kings 43-21, were winning battles all over the ice and played with more intensity and urgency. They were able to play a good chunk of the game in the Kings’ end and were getting the better chances by far. Anaheim’s forwards did a great job of pressuring defenders to create turnovers and the group as a whole looked much better than they have over the beginning of the season.

Defensively, the Ducks were impressive as well. Not only was Anaheim limiting shots, they were limiting quality chances and John Gibson probably had his easiest night so far. We didn’t see many turnovers and when the Kings did get into the Ducks’ zone, they weren’t able to sustain much pressure.

Overall, this was a great win for the Ducks. They were able to make up some ground within the West Division and more importantly, it was a game that showcased how well the team is able to play, when they put a complete game together.
