It has been a very slow rumor season to date, but last night we once again saw everyone's favorite horse trader grab the ball and run with it. In grabbing Zucker out of Minnesota the Penguins become the first team to "Go for it" this trade season.
And the reverberations this morning are palpable.
We will get right to it, but first injury news out of Montreal...
Bob McKenzie on TSN has stated in the last hour... "I’m hearing the prognosis on Shea Weber’s LBI is not at all encouraging in terms of him playing any time soon...". Horrible news for a Canadiens team that has been battling for a playoff spot hard lately.
Onto the Rumors...
On Brenden Dillon..
Don't look now but the Penguins may NOT be done...I am told they re already moving on and talking to the Sharks this morning and this has gotten Boston, Toronto and Vancouver to take serious notice...
On Wayne Simmonds...
Three teams...Vancouver appears the favorite, but Dallas and Edmonton...Edmonton slightly more, are interested
On JG Pageau...
This is the Oilers guy as of now...They are once again in a Battle of Alberta right now...(with Colorado and Columbus thrown in there). The Zucker deal has lit up the Pageau talks.
On Kreider...
Some teams are frustrated and the Penguins are in that group I am told. The deal that got Zucker wasn't enough to get Kreider...I am still hearing the Rangers are going to give a last push to keep him...which is 100% the right move in my opinion...and that is coming from a guy who LOVES trades..
On Vatanen...
Similar stuff here..the Devils would prefer to keep him...but now I hearing Montreal has interest and with Weber going down..could the Habs be buyers??
