The Carolina Hurricanes announced that the team has signed defenseman Fredrik Claesson to a one-year, two-way contract.

With the signing, Claesson adds to an already crowded Hurricanes defense group. The 26-year-old played 37 games with the New York Rangers last season, where he had two goals and six points. Previously, Claesson also spent time with the Ottawa Senators and has played 150 total NHL games.
