With the Vancouver Canucks' regular season rapidly approaching, CHEK TV's Rick Dhaliwal provided injury updates for Ilya Mikeyev, Tanner Pearson, and Tucker Poolman.

Dhaliwal reported that Mikheyev's agent, Dan Milstein, told him that Mikheyev is still three to four weeks away from being fully healthy. Due to this, it's likely that Mikheyev will not play in any preseason contests. However, Dhaliwal also reported that Mikheyev will be at training camp, and there's hope that he will be good to go for the club's season opener against the Edmonton Oilers.

Mikheyev was limited to 46 games last season due to an ACL injury, posting 13 goals and 28 points. Overall, he left a strong first impression with the Canucks, and his return will be excellent for the club.

Moving on, Dhaliwal also noted earlier this week that Pearson looks good after suffering a hand injury in November 2022. However, he also brought up that the Canucks could have salary cap trouble if Pearson is 100% ready to go for the season, as they are roughly $4.8 million above the salary cap.

Pearson, 31, was limited to 14 games last season, where he posted one goal, five points, and a minus-9 rating. If he is good to go for the start of the regular season, he will be in the hunt for a bottom-six spot on the Canucks' opening night roster.

Meanwhile, Dhaliwal reported that Poolman will not participate in training camp and is set to start the regular season on long-term injured reserve. He also reported that Poolman's current injury is not a concussion but a different issue.

Poolman played in just three games last season, where he had one assist. Since joining the Canucks in 2021-22, he has appeared in only 43 games due to injury trouble.

Lastly, sending out a quick congratulations to former Canuck Michael Del Zotto on his retirement. The 2008 first-round officially hung up the skates this week and had a fine career. In 763 career games over 13 NHL seasons, he had 63 goals, 199 assists, and 262 points. With that, he won a Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues in 2019.
