CBJ - First Ever Masterton Winner Sean Monahan

The NHL announced through an emotional feature video to their social media feed that Sean Monahan has won the 2024-2025 Masterton Trophy courtesy of Meredith Gaudreau and Brittany Monahan.

Monahan is the first ever Blue Jackets’ skater to win the illustrious hardware, and the franchise has had only two previous finalists including Nick Foligno and Kevin Dineen.

Monahan has had a successful first season in Columbus on top line with Dmitry Voronkov and Kirill Marchenko. Mony missed the first ever outdoor game at the Stadium Series with the Jackets due to injury; but overcoming loss of his best friend was the most logical choice and decision by the league to pass the trophy to Monahan.

While the life of Gaudreau will be ongoing according to Comissioner Bettman, this is a first step in that follow up.

The Flames, NHLPA, and league have followed up on sharing this and fans themselves have shared the love for Johnny Gaudreau.

What say you on this milestone for the man, myth, and legends of Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau, the cardiac kids?

More to come…
