"Who Am I...?" #41 (featuring 100% more Nic Cage!!!)

Just when I thought I had everyone stumped….

Typically, if anyone’s going to get these things they will the day of, or day following, the post. This timeframe passed for edition 40 with no one close to the answer and only frustration coming my way… and this pleased me! Pleased me as I’ve only been able to have one of these things left unsolved on the rare occasion, perhaps two to three times at most. But then Day Four hit, and that damn _Zippy_ ruined any hopes I had of adding to it!

Kudos to _Zippy_ though, I have to say, as this one was a bit trickier. As tricky as the one I’m about to drop today? I don’t think so, and perhaps today’s will be my chance to add to my win column. Before we get there though, lets take a look at the solution for “Who Am I…?… #40…

1) I am the only individual at this position to have won five different national and/or international championships.

(As a coach has won CIS University Cup in 1994 with the University of Lethbridge, a Gold medal with Canada in the 1997 IIHF World Junior Championships, a Gold Medal with Canada in the 2004 IIHF Hockey World Championships, a Stanley Cup in 2008 with the Detroit Red Wings, and Olympic Gold Medals with Canada in the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics)

2) I played in Europe prior to my career in the NHL.

(As a player-coach for the 1987 Whitley Warriors in the United Kingdom)

3) I played under a Hall of Fame coach.

(Coached by Dave King, member of the IIHF and Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame, while at the University of Saskatchewan)

4) I was associated with an AHL team and it's parent NHL club.

(Head coach of the Cincinnati and Anaheim Mighty Ducks)

5) I've been to the Stanley Cup finals with two different teams.

(Anaheim Ducks in 2003, Detroit Red Wings in 2008 & 2009)

Who Am I…? I’m………..Mike Babcock!!!

And for correctly guessing the answer, _Zippy_ will become the proud new owner of this…

Enough of the old, and onto the new as we move onto edition 41! Remember the rules folks: the name is not sufficient!!! I hope this one is the deal sealer for giving me one up on you all, as I’m getting a royal butt-whipping over the long run here…

1) I was a 7th round draft pick.

2) I did not play hockey for the year leading up to being drafted. Some might say the reason was "of convenience" to my career...

3) I am remembered for two NHL landmarks.

4) Following my playing career I worked alongside a family member in his business which saw me facilitating the arrival of a future hall of fame player into the NHL.

5) Despite the significance of my playing in the NHL, my time in the league was very short, spanning only a single-digit number of games.
