And we’re back with another test of your hockey knowledge with “Who Am I?”!

You guys, as expected, made short work of me last time around! I’m moving closer and closer to going from 10 clues to five…

At any rate, before we get to “Edition 12”, let’s take a look at the info from last time:

1. I am a four time NHL All Star. (First Team in 1943, 1944 & 1947, Second Team in 1949)

2. I have won a major NHL award. (Art Ross Trophy in 1943)

3. I am in the Hockey Hall of Fame. (Elected in 1964)

4. I played for only two teams during my career. (Chicago Blackhawks & New York Rangers)

5. I was part of a NHL “first” along with my line mates. (During the 1942-43 season I, along with my brothers Max and Reggie, became the first three brothers to play as a complete forward line)

6. I missed an entire season for a rather unique reason. (There are two conflicting stories around this, with the former seeming more plausible, although both would qualify as unique: 1) I was given permission by Canadian Armed Forces officials to remain in my hometown of Delisle, Saskatchewan, to tend to the family farm while my brothers were fighting in the war.; and 2) After playing an exhibition game with the Blackhawks in Canada prior to the 1944-45 season, border guards would not allow me to cross back into the United States, forcing me to miss the entire season.)

7. I never won a Stanley Cup.

8. I scored over 200 goals and 300 assists during my career. (219 goals and 324 assists)

9. I also have a family member in the Hockey Hall of Fame. (Brother Max, elected in 1966)

10. When, as a coach, I placed my son in the lineup and played him, what is generally thought to be a professional hockey record was set. (Youngest player to take a shift in a professional hockey game, with son Doug Jr being only 14 years, nine months of age. He played on March 13, 1966, for the Knoxville Knights of the Eastern Hockey League, playing in only that final game of the season and scoring no points in a 12-4 win over the Jacksonville Rockets. He was used due to injuries on the Knoxville roster.)

But out with the old, and in with the new! Here’s a new set of clues for a new week! Have a go and post your answers in the comments. Again, it’s one thing to throw a name up there, but it’s a whole other deal to have the answers to the questions there as well so have at it!

1. I hold this NHL game winning record.

2. I have played for two expansion teams, two teams that are currently playing in cities other than those they were originally founded in, and two teams founded in the WHA.

3. I hold an NHL regular season game record.

4. I’m a one time 1st team all star.

5. I set a record, then broke it two days later.

6. I won a rookie award.

7. I played for eight different NHL teams.

8. Although signing a one year contract with a ninth NHL team, I spent the entire season playing for their AHL affiliate.

9. I was chosen in two NHL drafts.

10. I’m currently working for two hockey organizations.

Good luck folks!
