Im all for Doan getting 7.5 mill a year. I dont even care anymore. Isles have so much cap room anyway by the time this team becomes a contender the contract will be expiring. Nothing to lose with this signing except Wangs money.

At least one team in the East seems to want Shane Doan real, real bad.

Host John Gambadoro of Sports 620 KTAR in Phoenix reports there's word an Eastern Conference team has offered Doan a four-year deal worth $30 million. That works out to an average annual salary of $7.5 million (Zach Parise territory) -- over FOUR years. Doan will turn 36 years old in October.

No word on which team made the alleged offer, but half the league is reportedly interested in Doan. You have to wonder -- and this is pure speculation -- if the owner of the New York Islanders may have developed a hankering for the captain of the Phoenix Coyotes. The Isles remain well below the salary floor, and a proposal like this simply has a 'Charles Wang' feel to it.

Doan has been extremely candid about wanting to re-sign with the Coyotes if ownership issues are worked out, as expected. But such an offer would be very hard to refuse.

By the time this team is ready to be a contendor Doan will be retired. I don't think the Isles were the team that offered the money - doesn't make sense. Doan is so overhyped because really he's the only attractive name left. Personally I'd rather give that money to Semin. Sure he's a little bastard but he puts points up and that's what the team needs, not a 35 year old over the hill "grinder".

Why, im glad you asked.. because he is a leader that has been a part of a major rebuild, He has been a part of a franchise in complete disarray over where they will be playing, moving from one arena to another & then to another. He is as true a Leader this team has ever seen. Peca was good.. but Doan is in Brent Sutter league.
Doan can help these kids become the professionals they need to be.
