A 4 year deal is likely to cost you more then that. Closer to 17M. |

I wrote an article about that topic last summer for NHL.com after the Flyers acquired both players. Jagr ended up being quite the mentor to Voracek, too.
Their one season together in Philly will probably have career-long benefits to Voracek.

Thanks Bill. That's a lot of talent from there, name that sticks out is Michal Pivonka, haven't heard that name in a long long time. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Quick Hits on Voracek, Prospect Camp - bmeltzer
5 year 21 mil......Vorecek showed signs of breaking out last year ....to a level that could exceed that number....If he is signed to a cap free type number he also could become trade bait....but honestlty I have seen enough moves for now....Perhaps shore up the D if the right deal comes along...but everything else seems to have settled in nicely.
The Reads, Cout's, Schenns and Simmonds of the world have to see the ice. |

I think the Flyers should push for a deal similar to what David Perron got from St Louis. 3 years, $15.25mm for a cap hit of $3,812,500. Similar stats, although Perron has 2 twenty goal seasons. Same age. Fill roughly the same role on their respective teams.
It'd be a pretty fair deal for both sides, IMO. |

I agree, but for some reason I really want that fourth year. I think Voracek has a ton of potential. Plus, he showed he can get it done in the playoffs. |

That's a great comparison. Not sure why the flyers more often pay over market value lately. Hopefully voracek can get locked up under 4 per. He needs to prove more |

Doesn't that have to be a four year contract to obtain the cap hit of $3,812,500? |

He did manage 10 points in 11 games, including 3 against the Devils, but I'd prefer a larger sample size. JvR had a similarly impressive playoff run the year before-maybe moreso. Briere can get it done in the post season.
Actually, Perron got a 4 year deal anyhow. I like Jake and think he's gonna have a real good year. |

There has been a lot of discussion about players not repeating the years they had last year. Such as Hartnell and Simmonds. Well there is also a flip side to that. As I think somebody is going to have a breakout Season. Maybe even more then one player. And I guess the 3 candidates for that are Couturier, Voracek, and Schenn. I have my gut feeling who I think is going to have a big year. So I think that's a real exciting thing to look forward to this upcoming Season. |

I agree with everything you said.
My gut says Schenn. Coots is great but will be given MUCH bigger defensive assignments IMO.
Voracek is still what he is...many skills which are good but none of which are a sniper. Maybe this helps you win games, but also may appear less on the stat sheet. |

My guess is Schenn also. And I saw a growth in game 1 of the Pens Series. And not just the 3 points. But at the end of the first period, iirc, Schenn laid out Craig Adams on a hit. And then skated towards him as Adams got up, and basically said, what are you going to do about it. That shows a competitive spirit, that along with the skill package, makes a very good player.
As far as Voracek, I think many are underestimating his 18 goals last year. he's never going to be a sniper. But he has the potential to score 25-30 goals a Season in my opinion, along with being a good playmaker. |
