Sucks that it came to this...had the leafs made the playoffs and he was healthy (two impossible tasks, I know) we'd be talking about a contract extension and not a buy out.

Wonder if Burke will succeed tomorrow in attracting a top UFA (Parise/Suter/park)

Wouldn't mind Armstrong on the Habs if he is healthy, would be a great line partner for White an Moen

Colby was a first class guy. I had hoped his career in TO would've been more "Tucker" like. BB had to do this, he just didn't have an luck health wise. All the best Colby, good luck on your next team.

in the 10-11 season, he played his ass off on a crap team, then got injured

pretty crappy way to treat a player IMO

he was not the problem

Why waste cap space on a buyout. I'm sure he could be traded for 6th or 7th pick.

His injuries have been all weird ones save for the concussion...but now a days everything is a concussion.

There's no doubt he'll out together a few more full seasons for someone....he'll end up back in Pittsburgh for 2mil per.

Armstrong was awful in Toronto... the dirty hits that made him effective years ago have been outlawed so he better find a new use or he'll be playing in Europe somewhere within a year or two...

he was injured for most of his tenure here. Last season when he wasnt injured, he was literally invisible.

Crappy way to treat a player? Wtf? Sure buddy...He was injured more than he played and this gives him the freedom to find another option for his career.. Its a business..

What a shame....could have been a very useful player, especially if we made the playoffs. Oh well. I wouldn't have named him first if you asked me who of the LACK would be bought out.

Good luck Army....

It's a business my friend. If a player cannot stay healthy, what's the point of having an extra $2 million in cap space being taken up for no reason? Especially when you can add some quality pieces for the bottom 2 lines in the UFA year.

Clearly there were no takers...otherwise I'm sure a deal would've been struck.

If this was true it wouldve been done...dont you think this would be last resort? Theyre putting him on unconditional waivers first
