Eklund says Parise might be getting an extension!!!

That means that he obviously will not be getting an extension...

The closer you say Parise is to resigning with NJ, the closer he is to playing somewhere else.

Good news for the rest of us.

it is starting to appear more and more like Zach Parise could be getting an extension in NJ

If I am not mistaken they only induct a few players a year, and, IF this is the case I would take every one of those players over Shannahan every day of the week. IF it is not the case then I would tend to agree that he was robbed.

Shanahan is definitely a hall of famer, but to be honest I would probably put all four of those guys before him.

Sakic is a no-brainer, Oates is brutally underrated and has been snubbed for several years now, Bure was more dominant at his peak and has also been snubbed for several years, and Sundin was more productive and more consistent for longer than Shanahan was.

Shanahan scored a lot of goals, won some Stanley Cups and was a crowd favorite wherever he went. But he doesn't have a slam-dunk Hall resume. In terms of his actual statistical performance, I think he's closer to being Keith Tkachuk than Joe Sakic.

EDIT: The only one I would maybe waffle over is Bure. But Sakic, Oates and Sundin are certainly more deserving than Shanahan in my opinion.

If Parise signs in NJ, the closer we are to hailing the accomplishments of Howsen in resolving the Nash trade. If Howsen waits out the process he will get one of the guys he really wants (Krieder, Couture or an equivalent talent from someone). All he has to do is get past the major UFA signings. After that he will own the only game in town. Contrary to other opinion, I believe the Bobby Ryan situation actually helps Howsen. Ryan is going to be resolved quickly. He will be dealt or they will figure out how to reconcile the hurt feelings. It will be settled before July 1.

Fun fact: Bure averaged about 65 points per season over 12 years. Wow.

I'm aware of his injury problems and whatnot, but there's no denying that his PPG is vastly inflated by the fact that he never played in the NHL during his decline.

Roenick's stats in his first 12 years only blow Bure clear out of the water.

#Sabres and #NHLDucks discussions HEATING UP. ANA putting pressure on Buffalo to up its bid; discussing Luke Adam, Stafford, Roy.

Hockeyy Insiderr ‏@HockeyyInsiderr

Ball is in #Sabres court right now for landing Ryan but they don't want to give up too much to the #NHLDucks. Would like Roy instead of Adam
