All I can say is wow. There are No NHL ready prospects in the draft besides Nail? Thats not what I have read. In fact I read Murray was one of the most NHL ready players in the draft and could step right into the NHL

Dee...you might want to re-read the article...McKenzie said:

“Nail Yakupov is likely to play right away. Ditto for Ryan Murray."

My take is both are NHL ready...

the obvious thing about Ryan Murray is that he missed the cut off by only 7 days I think to be eligible for last year's draft, so he will be 19 when the NHL season starts.

It's just a question would the Islanders start him in the NHL right away. I think its pretty certain they would give him that 9 game look and see what he can do.

He def would be in NHL. Kid looks VERY steady. Won't wow you that much a la Bryan Berard in his rookie campaign, but is a good offensive producer and solid in his own end.

Given he is 19 does he still have to go NHL or back to juniors or can a team put him in AHL for a while?

I think u have to be 20 to start in the AHL, so its either NHL or juniors..
I could be wrong?

does one have anything to do with the other? AHL and NHL are seperate entities, no? I don't know if the new CBA would have an effect?

Doubt the CBA would change that rule bc thats how some junior teams make money, even with college unless the kids forgo there years later on in college

Even if Murray is not a big dman he still may be too good to pass up. Isles no question need to get bigger on D.

The problem is without the 19 year old rule the Junior leagues would be raped of talent. It's certainly not a bad rule from their perspective.

Nick Lidstrom was the best D man in the modern era of hockey. He is 6'1" and 192 lbs.
