9:13 pm: NYIFan Central has a really well researched article on the Isles drafts of the last few years. http://www.newyorkislanderfancentral.com/2012/06/lot-of-folks-like-to-bring-up-point.html?spref=tw Thanks to him for informing me that so many names we've come to know and enjoy need to have QO's presented by 6/25/12. Garth's got a really, really busy week.

Also, if you need something to do with the kids tomorrow night and are looking to see a little entertainment on ice, the Spring Fling at Ice Works tomorrow night for Smile Train is only a minimum of $5. Sounds like a great deal.

5:21 pm: WTH??? Okay, I'm not one to look back, but the Islanders have agreed to terms with Jesse Joensuu for a one-year, one-way deal. However, @StapeNewsday says "Contract has Euro out clause." (I'd like a Long Island OUT clause for myself.)

I don't.

I know. I'm sorry. Usually I've researched prospects and thought about what could happen early on Draft night while I'm sitting at the Coliseum waiting for the Isles to hit the stage.

Not this year. I just don't feel it. I don't know why.

Although, maybe it's because as TSN's Bob McKenzie told BD Gallof in his excellent interview with him for CBS Sports (go look it up, it's really good. He doesn't need me thumping for him.) only Nail is really NHL ready and the balance of the draft doesn't have any immediate standouts.

That's not to say there aren't diamonds to be found this year. But they will all take time to develop. I'm not sure if the Isles have that much time.

With a lease running out and a fan base getting really pissy, they can't waste any more time and we all know the hole that needs to be filled is defense.

Part of me is thinking that 4th place draft will be dealt for a D playing NOW in the NHL. Snow won't have to move that far down, but I just have a feeling he will.

Yesterday on XM's NHL Home Ice, I thought I heard that conversations were being had about Eric Karlsson. I began to day dream. But I also agree with NHL.com's Brian Compton. If the Isles maintain that fourth pick and Ryan Murray is still available -- they grab him quickly.

By next Friday, we'll have it all figured out.

With the impending CBA negotiations looming large, many clubs are forgoing some of their normal routines. I asked if the Isles would still be having their mini-camp in July and I got a shock. The mini camp is now scheduled for the last week of JUNE. Is there a cooincidence that it ENDS the day before Free Agency? Hmmmm....

Could it be (and this is purely speculation) that how some of those developing prospects look at mini-camp will determine how aggressive Garth Snow will be trying to attract free agents?

It's a thought. And right now -- I don't have too many of those that relate to hockey.
