Dee Karl: Congrats to the NJ Devils
And so the match-up is set. - Dee Karl
muchas gracias
and we all dont have to listen to torts anymore he only patted deboar on the back and didnt shake any devils hands
while lundqvist is a great goalie, his nickname doesnt exactly fit, yeah i know he got it for the gold medal n stuff but he still hasnt won anything that matters in the NHL (stanley cup) and for all their fans jabbing brodeur and all well they will have to live with brodeur beating "the king"

The Devils deserve a ton of credit. Marty getting to a Cup without the two Scott's on D is huge. Lou continues to find great young talent and knows when to bring them up. - ses111
Kovy is evolving into more then a 1 dimensional player as well.. I never imagined he would be as great a fit with the Devils as he's become.

I'm surprised as well with Kovy. I did not see this Devil team getting to a Cup this year. I think Richards and Gaborik did not come up big enough. Too much pressure on the Rangers defense and goalie to win. |

Amazing how winning the draft lottery enhances your chance at winning the Cup. If the Devils hadn't won the Draft Lottery, they wouldn't have gotten Henrique! 2 series clinching goals in overtime. |

The Devils can have the last pick in the draft every year and still find great players. How has David Conte not been a GM somewhere else? Has to be by choice. |

True. It's just been a very long wait. I would be shocked if he has not had a couple of offers. |

Larry Brooks has been force feeding that "King" nickname since Lundqist was drafted just so he can say he came up with the name. Also had something to do with him not thinking the name "Henrique" would go well with NYers. He devoted an entire article to it way back when. No one called him King, even well after the Olympics. I'm sure to this day his teammates dont call him "King". It's become sort of an ironic joke at this point.
Sort of like the self-proclaimed "World's Most Famous Arena" gimic. You know, the one with horrible sight lines/lights, awful ice and penalty boxes that wont open. But if you say it enough, maybe it'll catch on with the herd. |

No.
The rangers defensive isn't as good as it seems because their defense severely hindered their offense. The rangers couldn't score because of that
The flyers had major goalie issues, and when the goalies played good the rest of the team seemed laxidazical
I picked the Devs in every series besides the one coming up |

The Rags defensive gameplay was exploited immensely by the Sens, which is why the Sens took them to game 7 |

The Devils play better when the underdog, I actually like the fact that we will be one. No pressure on you, just go out and play your game. I went into both the Flyers and the Rangers series not expecting to win, but I knew we could win, and at the very least, would put up a great fight. I think the same about this series. We can definitely pull this one off. We've been great defensively, as if you watch the goals scored against the past couple games, it's not something you can fault on the team, more of just getting unlucky. |

I'm not saying the Devs didn't deserve to win and they didn't play well
I just didn't think they were the underdogs like everyone else said |

I always thought that nickname was a joke too - he hasn't won anything in the NHL. Just a layup of a pun. Don't tell Sam & Joe, though...they use it ad nauseum.
If Larry weren't such a homer and had a set, today's headline in the NY Post could have been, "Unfit To Be King" |

20% of the reason the Rag$ and Devils are better than us is because they are tougher, and have better defensemen as a unit. 80% of the reason they are better than us is because they don't set worthless bags of cowsh*t in front of the net, and call them "goalies". If a healthy Nabokov doesn't start 65 games next year, someone's head is stuck up his a*s......... |
