Who would you see the Leafs taking? I think Galchenyuk will go before 5 according to everyone's new rankings. Forsberg? Faksa? Can you go wrong at that spot? - wendel13
At this point, unless willing to move assets to go up, just wait to see who's there and grab Faksa/Forsberg/Trouba |

If the leafs can walk away with one of Faksa or Forsberg it will be successful draft day and put a positive on what was a brutal season... |

I like how Faksa and Forsberg both have size. Could you see Trouba going before them? |

I am a little confused about Ryan Murray. He has been all over the place on these projection lists. Some have him going top 3 (I sure as heck would), but some have him ranked around 10 or 11, which I find rather ridiculous. What's the deal with the variations? |

You're going to get a litany of responses from Oiler fans that roughly about a week or two ago started insisting that there is one of the biggest dropoffs in talent from the first overall to the second overall in all of history and if they trade down it will come with nothing less tha sidney crosby himself. |

At that point in the draft, it's almost on a "need basis" rather than BPA as far as the Top 6-7 are concerned, IMO. I think Trouba could be a candidate for NYI, so it's dependent on where they go, IMO.

A World Junior tourney to forget, mixed with the fact that he's a third year CHL'er ( missed 2011 Draft about 15 days), so he's been picked apart by scouts just like Couturier last season. |

I sure hope the Oil can package there 2nd round pick and another asset to trade up to the 23rd spot two players for the price of one sounds like a steal.
23 - Colton Sissons, RW
23 - Stefan Matteau, LW |

There is a drop off of talent from Nail to the rest, just like their was a drop off from Hall to Seguin. But sometimes you have to project a bit as to what you think that player will be over a 15-20 year career. |

Forsberg between those two.
But I'm still hoping for Galchenyuk to fall.
Maybe the Isles go off the board? |

A drop off is to expected with Yakupov being a "Generational" talent and all...

Hey Huds do you see any impact defensemen falling to the 32nd overall pick if so who and what sets them above others ranked in there range? |

I've never argued he wasn't the consensus number one. I've just replied that I don't think the dropoff is as monumental as they would like to think. There was speculation that he could be passed this year by a few players, most notably Grigorenko, so I doubt its as big a drop as they're suggesting (I.e. It would take the Habs Subban to trade up). ISS even had Grigorenko ranked first half the season.

Is that sarcasm?
How many generational talents would you say are in the NHL right now? |

I think Galchenyuk ends up in Toronto. Yakupov to EDM, Forsberg to CBJ, Grigorenko to MTL, Murray to NYI, Galchenyuk to TOR. |

At that point by the early 2nd, most of my guys int hat range are bang and crash two-way type players who project as a 2nd-3rd liners and 3-5 Dmen. You could take some changes on higher upsides with big ? marks, but likely around 32 you're looking at a player like Dalton Thrower. A similar player to Kevin Bieksa. |

No one has to go off the board for Galchenyuk to fall to 5th overall. Yakupov, Forsberg, Grigorenko, Murray could conceivably go top 4. |

I agree, the word generational is thrown around way too easily. Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux, Hull, Crosby, Yzerman= generational players. |

Most Oilers fans realize that adding Subban with the 3rd overall would be a gross overpayment to move up two spots. The reasoning behind that is that no one really whats to part with the 1st pick unless if it is a complete no brain er of a deal which would pretty much guarantee a clear win for the Oil. Personally I would like to keep the pick and use other assets not named Hall,Eberle or RNH to address team weaknesses. |
