big big big game tonight, its crazy who here would have thought we would be in this position 2 months ago?

i know i wrote them off big time. didnt think that this type of run would happen again. its fun and exciting and heres to them keepin it goin tonight.

I do NOT feel good about this game....so nervous.

I'll be that guy and say I thought that! infact i thought they'd already be in 8th officially and pushing for 7th.

This team is better than last years on paper, they just needed to get moving... and they finally did.

I do NOT feel good about this game....so nervous.

I am always nervous for this huge games like this because it seems that Buffalo sometimes folds under the big games... especially when Buffalo is on the road.

fixed. why so negative? I think the Sabres are a better team than Washington. Other than Ovechkin, who's really a threat on that team? Regher has done a fine job of handling him so far this season, too. We have been able to pile on the points against this team this year, especially if we get ahead early. I think they should be more nervous to play us than the other way around.

ya i agree with the second part, personally i think ive put up a bit of a wall because i dont want to be crushed if they dont make it.

turns out injuries have seemed to play a huge part in the slow start, and it helps that miller is back to vezina form

There are 2 things I always look for when watching games...

A.) Who scores first... The Sabres are like 30-8 when scoring first (some ungawdly number)

B.) Does Tyler Ennis score a goal or a point... Sabres have a great record in the NHL over Ennis career when he scores.. *wasn't it up to like 42-10 when Ennis has a point??

I don't care about shot totals.. I usually don't care if we are getting topped in hits either... The only stat paper one I look at is Faceoffs... if we are getting smoked on the DOT.. it hurts our scoring chances all night.

And is 'they' Buffalo in this case or Washington? Because this post is un-decernable without that clarification

The Sabres sorry...

It seems that once the Sabres score their first goal the team changes into a much more relaxed, focused team. Look at the Minny game.

They played okay the 1st period, but were down 0-1. Once Vanek got the goal the WHOLE game changed, they were skating "down hill" and spent a lot of time in the Minny zone.

In the Rangers game the Sabres did something radical, they SHOT THE PUCK and we won going away.

Against the Wild they were back to trying to make 3 foot passes at the top of the crease and it was much more of a nail biter.

If they shoot, they score and they haven't been shooting enough. With the Caps goaltending situation the more shots they take the better. Look what happened when they shot on 'King Henrik'

We should be fine if our Defense can shut down the Cvechkin line and the Semin line.....

Big game from Miller would also help.... Hopefully the Staff infection line stays hot...

yea cant argue with the stats A and B provide. however i think its more about how well the team skates. they looked tired early on against minnesota but got their legs goin and things turned around. they cant afford to start slow tonight because washington could put a few in early if they leave miller out to dry.

Last time I checked stub hub, you couldn't get a ticket for less than $100. this would have been a great game to pick up in mid-January. Now the prices are higher than a Leafs game.
