My preference is for Simmonds to remain a Flyer in a fair deal for both sides.

Were it my decision, I'd have preferred him to sit out the first 2 months of the season so that he'd be closer to normal Simmonds for the back half as opposed to the passenger style we saw for the bulk of the season. Props to him for his warrior mentality, but Simmonds' game is about more than just goals and assists, and he just didn't bring any of that this year. Granted, until Lindblom got recalled (which I think should have happened a month earlier than it did), we didn't really have anyone to replace even a 50% Simmonds.

Going forward, I hope they can resign him. However, he and his agent also realize that this is his last chance for a big payday, so I have my doubts.

Same. I wonder how much different a "recovering" Simmonds would look in the fall, compared to the one we saw playing through injury this season.

Very disappointed that Simmonds didn't have the surgery done when the injury first happened. Now we're looking at a season and a half of a core player playing far below their norm as oppose to one season. It was the wrong choice but there isn't anything we can do about it now.

Healthy or not I think Hextall is going to play a bit of hardball with this contract. They really shouldn't be paying Simmonds market value and term given the nature of power forwards tendency to decline. 4 years 5 million is the absolute tops I go and I think he's going to get better offers elsewhere. I also wouldn't re-up him until next off-season. Need to see how he comes back from these injuries.

I dont see why Hornqvist is not a good example of a fair deal for Simmonds, I think it is 5 years at 5.3

Because Simmonds doesn't run around cheap shotting people and will actually back himself up when asked to do so.

I don't see how he can be traded in the off-season when his value is really an unknown.

Yup, you won’t get fair value on him. Better to hold on to him and make a decision one way or the other at mid season.

IMO I think Simmonds would sign for that. Simmonds has generally been a better scorer though

The current series or the 1973 movie starring James Brolin and Yul Brynner?

Next off season starts July 1 2019. If Simmonds is not re-signed by then he will be traded. If it doesn't happen this off season then it will happen in season. If not then, a trade is likely during the season or into the draft.

If healthy, at the very least he provides much needed depth. Especially at the wing. However I'd definitely be entertaining talks for a trade if one presents itself.

Same.

If you look at this dispassionately, retaining Simmonds may not be the exact right play, but I think it's the right play for this franchise (if that makes any sense).

If they can get him for that it would be great.

I would prefer a shorter term even if it meant 6 aav

4 years 6aav.

She doesn't die. She floats out into the vaccum of space, and then magic flies back into a ship as she's dying and unconscious.
