Glad the Caps have been near the bottom of man-games lost due to injuries the past several seasons so you haven't had to whine about that for too long.

I think if Ovi keeps his scoring up the Caps will be fine. He lifts the rest of the team play so much when he is going like this.

Capitals need to focus on getting Ovechkin those 100 goals this season. They just won’t do anything else.

I hope he does. I want Ovi to score more goals than anyone in his career. That would be awesome.

To be fair, I'm sure if Ovechkin scored 100 goals in a season and took that moving forward into the playoffs. The Caps would do quite well. When Ovi is playing well, the team is playing well.

He needs to average 31.5 goals a season for the next ten years to beat Gretzky's goal scoring record.

As long as he gets more than 31.5 goals a season. It'll make the last few season easier and even if his skating slows, his shot should allow him more life in his scoring career.

Who knows if it'll happen but it's possible.

I'd love to see that as well as most game winning goals and most power play goals.

All are achievable for Ovi at this point.

The way the Hawks have been playing and scoring, you just need to score 2 goals to ensure a win.
Take all the liberties you want because the Hawk's powerless play is a joke.

The Hawks have a deadly team when they get going. They won all those cups for a reason. The way their team is built, it's a contender every year

having not posted in some time - since last Spring perhaps - I'd like to reflect on various aspects of this supple young season (see Eric Cartman):

First, it gave me great joy to watch the Pens lose yesterday. Rejoice.

Caps were awful to begin the season - OV's goals drew attention away from how poor they were, but it was pretty evident when he didn't score just how brutal the whole team was. Seemed to be stuck in slo-mo or something.

HOWEVER I am glad my fanboyism of believing it was just a time of 'transition' could possibly have been at play (atleast partially)...

I mean, with so many new guys and experience levels, it isn't surprising they needed to find their identity again, but I think they've done a good job of nailing down a team-wide character: a 'this is how we win' mentality. They seem to have a game-plan where once was chaos.

Feets are now being moved, even Ovechkin's. Eller is a possible beast when given a little more freedom (or maybe it is a lack of that? Not sure)...just appears noticeable now.

Nice to get Grubby some wins to even out letting him get shelled for 8 or whatever it was.

Bowey has done well at hiding how brutal Orpik is. Someone please take him.
Can his contract be bought out? Maybe? No? Bullocks.

Finally, Niskanen on the 2nd powerplay unit is an utter waste EXCEPT I think coach/co are actually trying to USE the 2nd unit. OV rushed to the bench at about 1 min in last game. I gasped. They got more time last game than they did all last season!
