Looking over the special teams comparison between the Hawks and Jets, I think it is the first time all season the Hawks opponent has a worse percentage in both PP and PK ... and that's saying something!

Given the choice ..... would Vegas want TVR signed at $825,000 for one year then RFA or Kruger at $3,083,333 cap hit (but because of the way the contract was structured they would only be paying $3,475,000 next year and only $2,300,000 the following year. So they would only be paying $2,887,500 per year) and then UFA.

For an expansion team Kruger could be a 2nd line shut down center with pedigree, leadership, mentoring skills. For an expansion team TVR could be a top 4 dman.

I think it would depend on what else they can get in the expansion draft.

Considering the Jets are 4-0 versus the Hawks this year, I'd hope this is a game the Hawks get up for. 19 should be ready to play knowing their record versus 'Peg this year and playing in his hometown....

Is this political commentary in a hockey blog? Just curious.

Good point DOH but don't they need contracts to meet the salary cap floor too? I would assume they do....$54M.

They do need to meet the floor. However they could draft a few higher salaried players that they like or they could go the Phoenix route and cut deals to take high salaried players during the expansion draft from other teams. Maybe they say I will take "X" player that is on your list that you are trying to dump that has a cap hit of $4.678 mil during the expansion draft in exchange for your 3rd round pick. So they might need some higher salary players and they might not.

If I was Vegas, I'd rather have TVR. Warts and all, he's a top 6 Dman, at a reasonable cost.

But, being a Hawks fan, I'd rather Vegas took Kruger. As much as I like Kruger and what he brings, defensively, his skill set can be replaced ( I hope) at a lower cost. He's a luxury this cap strapped team can't afford.
