Flyers would be wise to sell and start over

Jets need a scoring forward much more than another R shot D man. They already have Buff and Myers.

27 teams are selling all their UFA's and players over 27 years old. They are all intending to tank to get the best pick possible.

3 teams are trying to win the cup.

This will be the new reality of the NHL going forward.

I don't understand that deal from Winnipeg's standpoint. Why trade a good young right handed D for an older one who makes more money? If they want to trade Trouba, I assume they would look for a forward.

Yes, Hamonic makes more than Trouba. But his entry level deal is up, and he wants to cash in.. Hamonic is under contract for a while, at a reasonable salary.

Hamonic wants to be in Winnipeg, for us when good players want that, it's a smart move to make it happen. You can never have enough good D and the Jets are loaded with Forward prospects

Flyers don't have much to sell. Streit may be it. Can't imagine Shultz or Gagner bringing back much if anything at all. Read? Raffl? Not a lot of tradeable pieces with value.

Gudas has been a decent player if he can keep his head. It's completely illogical for the Flyers to not be sellers.

Hamonic has one of the best contracts in the NHL and he's only 26 himself.

I doubt this trade happens before June, though, if ever.

I still think Hamonic will end up in Edmonton.

No need for Isles to trade Harmonic now plus throw in a pick/prospect when off-season all teams of his desired geographic location will pony-up to Snow for a top 4 dman on a friendly contract w/cap going down $4m next year..... logic

Who in their right mind thinks the Flyers would be buyers? They are not going to make the playoffs (they'd need to go 19 and 6 the rest of the way to hit 99 points).

What has Ron Hextall done to suggest he would suddenly abandon 2 seasons of clearing cap space and picking up assets and instead start renting players short term?

Hamonic and Ho-Sang for Trouba... Steep price but you gain 4 years with Trouba.

I'd hate to see Trouba moved but I'm not sold on his potential yet. Hamonic is a manitoba boy from St Malo (I grew up spending summers here) and he wants to be closer to home. The jets like his contract and he's home grown. the fans will love him. Trouba is asking for Dougie Hamilton money, personally i don't believe he's currently worth that. He compares to Dmen around 4.2 per year for point totals, rfa contract and similar play. He hasn't had a great year.

would I be happy about this deal if it happened? it would be bitter sweet.

Hextall should sell a few players if possible. This team isn't very far off no matter what some think. Trade a couple defenseman if possible. 2 of these guy's... Streit,Medvedev,Shultz, Gudas and MacDonald. If MacDonald can be traded then Hextall has front office legend attached in philly forever. Konecny will be with the Flyers next year as will a few other guy's in the system. Provorov as well will be here.

I still think Hamonic for Eberle or Hamonic+ for the Nuge is what will go down in June.

The Isles' best D prospects are closer (AHL) than their F prospects are (CHL), and they could be losing Okposo and/or Nielsen in July, so trading Hamonic for a forward could make sense for the Isles at that point.

No way the Isles should have to add a pick and prospect as well. Hamonic's got a great contract and unless Trouba dumps his agent it will be tough to make this deal.

While Trouba obviously has a higher ceiling, an offensive defenseman looking to cash in big-time on a 14-point season is not such a hot commodity.

I like Trouba, but he needs to come back to Earth with his contract demands. You would also thought this deal would have happened by now as well?

Swapping these defensemen kind of makes sense....Hamonic wants to play there, Winnipeg will never pay the 8year/56mil rumored asking price by Trouba.
But would Garth Snow pay him that....absolutely not. Would he make this trade knowing what Trouba wants?

The Isles under Snow are about the last team in the NHL that would pay that kind of money to a player based entirely on potential.

Flyers are definitely not far off. Rags window about to close, with smart moves now and in June Phi can join Isles as Caps main challenger next year in Metro
