Pete, let me be the first to say BRAVO!! I've dealt with someone very close afflicted as well. The world is blessed by people who take the time and make the concerted efforts to stand by the sick......you are one of them. Thanks for sharing your story! |

Great piece Pete. The one positive seems to be the exposure the issue is getting over the last couple of years thanks to Bell and people with a platform to speak about it such as yourself. Also Clara Hughes has been a huge factor, she is an inspiration to many.
Kudos. |

About as well put as it can be.
Unless you have been through it personally you will never understand. Mental illness is one of the last taboo topics still out there. And it is time to change that. |

Fantastic article. My family seems to be effected by mental illness a little more than the average one. One uncle took his own life (rip), two of my aunts have been admitted multiple times to psych wards, other uncle is a raging heroin addict, had a cousin die of a heroin o.d.(rip) so this article really hit home. |

I know someone "close" who sustained his seventh concussion, which led to severe panic attacks. He lost his cars and home, wife and business. Had to relocate 600 miles from his son simply to get restarted in life in a healthier atmosphere once the symptoms - which had lasted five years - finally subsided.
Everyone has their troubles, some more than others. Very happy about the folks bringing further awareness to this like yourself Pete, and the TSN crew, along with Babcock. Every bit helps. |

Excellent blog Pete, it caught my attention and I read the entire blog and you really nailed this one. I honestly believe there many people with a degree of mental illness who try to function every day without even a thought they could have a problem. Very tough to treat or diagnose. Thank you for sharing. |
