Glad I was able to grab the whole "That 70's" line in a fantasy pool this year! He is beast of a hokey player and will only continue to develop his game further, especially with Carter as a line-mate/mentor. Great drafting by the Kings and definitely shows you how important scouts can be at every level. |

"Don't be surprised if they slow down, and don't be saying things like "Bust" when they eventually hit a rough patch."
Well that's unfair, considering how everyone does that to everyone of the Oiler's draft picks.
LA has had some great work by their management for both, trades, drafting and UFA signings. |

After the 2nd game of the season he was still available in my FL but and I remember staring at my line up for the next day and the Kings weren't playing again for a few days so I thought I'll wait and grab closer to game day... he was picked that night, after I said what the heck, I should just pick him up now. I snoozed and I lost. |

The homer I am, I would have drafted all Kings players, lol. Probably not the best strategy. |

Pearson has been unbelieveable to start the year. Its also nice to see a Kings player being talked about for rookie of the year I believe he would be the first Kings player to win the award if my memory serves correct. I don't think Robitaille won it. He is the only one that's coming to mind if he did in fact win. I'll have to check
EDIT: I was wrong, Robitaille did win the award. He Is the only Kings player to have won the Calder |

This is so true. It still amazes me when a kid comes in, makes the team and contributes.
For so many years we had hoped for big things from guys like Yachmenev, Berg, Tsyplakov, Frolov, etc..

Agreed but it's like that for most clubs. Lombardi has far more hits than misses. Even most guys that didn't fit here have been fixtures on other teams. Purcell, Moulson, Boyle, Hickey, possibly Campbell in the future. Dean and Futa have done a great job in making the Kings one of the better development staffs in the league.
Pretty sure Kozun was praising the Kings development process and coaches in a tsn interview when he made the Leafs out of camp. |

That's true, I think if you hit on a player that makes your team like 30% of the time, your doing awesome. Most draft picks never see the NHL. I could be wrong on the 30%
technically, but if you look at our draft history compared to now, we're getting a lot more talent then we used to. DL is a genius. |

That's a very valid point.
Drafting is in no way an exact thing. Teubert is maybe the best example in recent memory. Hickey not so much, just because he never really had an NHL frame. Teubert was built like a truck, had a huge slapshot, loved to hit, was tenacious etc. etc.
Get the guy into the pro level and the wheels came off the bus. Couldn't keep up with the speed, his skating killed him, his hockey sense killed him.
This guy was the 13th overall pick. Ranked in the top 10 in some pre draft rankings.
Same draft, Erik Karlsson is taken 15th. Adam Henrique is taken 82nd. Jared Spurgeon taken 156th. Wingels taken 177th. Demers 186.
Even surefire is never surefire. Good drafting is sometimes not respected enough considering how difficult it is. Some people just expect that if you have a first round pick it's going to be a homerun. Never the case. |

I can't imagine how difficult it would be to scout someone trying to determine if their game would successfully transition to the NHL.
It's always interesting to look at the 1st rounds from the last 5 years or so and see how many names never made it. |

Career AHL guy. His contract just works to get us an extra body. He shouldnt be to much a liability.
Bigger question is. Why has Muzzin been so bad since his return? |
