I think Ferland's really making a case for himself. Guys like Seto and Jones are being outplayed right now (although Jones apparently injured himself in practice, so a decision on his status will be put off for a while). |

Has Gaudreau worked his way into any games? If so, how's he looked (besides tiny)? |

Was at the game, Flames played well especially the goalies. Both of Ferland's goals showed slick hands. Selioff I only noticed when he drew an instigator penalty. Wish I could be at the Saddledome tomorrow night, Avs are really gonna be motivated to try and get a win finally. How many times has Iggy been back the last couple years? |

Yep, Ferland is pushing hard to make this team. With his functional toughness, combination of size and skill, im sure BT/BB are salivating at the possibility.
I've believed all along Ramo will be the starter. Although he and Hiller will likely split games fairly evenly i think. Hot goalie plays.

thats good for seiloff. when a rookie D doesn't draw attention, usually means he's doing his job (wotherspoon was like that too) |

While I agree with ferland making a case, I wonder if it will be another you her player losing a spot rather than a seto or Jones ...asset management is key ...and typically coaches will take a vet over a kid unless the kid is completely wowing ...we could see ferland on the team come game 1 but it might be at the expense of a Sven or Johnny hockey |

if ferlands gets a spot its because he earned it more then another young player...or that spot is on the 4th line (getting minutes on the 3rd if doing well)
JG, granlund, sven are a waste on the 4th. they'd be better off not staying up.
Ferland will have to really impress as well since it would mean jones/seto will be getting those 2/3rd line minutes rather then granlund/beart/jg (and even bennet, who I think will stay down, not because of his ability, but due to not wanting to eat into his contract and other players that could take the spot). Sven I think needs another year in the ahl, build his confidence up let him dominate....he needs to show he can.
Jones I think is the one thats going to lose out. Seto, he's going to have to suck for a few real games I think. Overall, I'm not impressed with him, he looks like he doesn't want to be here. |

exactly if he's gonna be lazy and not play like the rest of the team and how hartley coaches them to, i'd much rather have a hardworking younger player like ferland on the team over a lazy vet |

Not a chance Johnny G sees the AHL. With the way the injuries are mounting, I could see Johnny, Sven Ferland & Bennett all starting the year with the big club. Bets are off with SB after the 9th game, I think he'll be sent back as we'll probably see Backs & Raymond back by then. Baert will be up & down this year, not a bad thing if he gets air miles. Ferland may stick longer than we think. |

As little as i have seen him, that's what you want from him. He is much the same as Wotherspoon in that you don't notice him, but he makes an impact. I feel like Seiloff has a bit more bite to his game than wotherspoon but both of them are very defensive oriented guys, not likely to show up on the score sheets often, other than +/- and PIMS. I haven't seen him play this year, but it's more than likely Seiloff ends up in the AHL imo, mainly because its hard to make the NHL when you played all of 2 games in the AHL the season before. (due to a infection for those who are unaware). |

9 games mean nothing to Baertschi or the others aside from Bennett. Bennett can play a max of 9 be for his contract kicks in. The others already have their contracts going. But i think its down to the 3 guys as to which will stick. I just cant see Bennett sticking past his 9. He'd really have to do something special. |

I do believe that 9 game isn't an option with bennet though right? If he's up, he has to stay up.
If JG is up, I doubt Baert sees much time this year. |

Do you really want me to go to the archive to when Seto signed and post all the guys on here talking about him bringing a great vet leadership presence...that would be good for the kids on the team....
Just admit you were all wrong....It's ok to be wrong sometimes... |

Everyone on this board said the same thing, "If he plays well, great. If not, oh well we send him down". You were the only bumhole on here making it sound like we were expecting him to be our saviour. So take off Colonel Sanders |

Hes allowed 9 games before the clock starts ticking on his ELC. After he makes the line up for game 10, that contract is going. He can be sent back to jr. at anytime though. |
