Johanson should throw Overhardt down a shaft just like Vader did to the Emperor if he knows what's go for his career , now the dispatch is reporting that Kekaleinen had some pretty strong words to the Johanson camp saying that the show will go on with or without him.

Can't understand why they can't just agree on 2 years at say 4.75 or 5 mil.

I mean is that really a bad deal? Can't help but wonder if kekalainen is trying to set some sort of precedent here.

This is still a matter of who blinks, it'd be a real issue if the Jackets caved a little and offered 5 mil per and Johansen still said no. I still think he'll be signed by opening day though.

They're lucky teams like Philly are against the cap, otherwise there might have been an offer sheet.

I can understand the CBJ's position on this. They are offering him as big a chunk of change as anyone has ever gotten in Johanson's position, AP using Matt Duchane as the example.

Everybody here seems to say 'sign him at 5 million and be done with it'. Okay, when its your team in the CBJ situation, will you support breaking the bank for a guy with one great season?

Everyone understands what is going on here by now, except for the young man and his agent; it's why he has no offer sheets on the table. This mess needs to end now or Johanson will ruin his chance to make the big $$$ and take the CBJ down with him. Obviously his agent doesn't care about his client. What a shame this whole mess has turned into.

Well I'll throw you guys vinny and a 3rd for him
But really. Why does he think he is worth that money? I'd go tops 3.5 for two year prove it contract. Then long term big bucks if he does continue to improve . Just a flyers fan here so I'm surprised philly idiot offer sheet him to a 7 year 70 mil contract front loaded with a signing bonus money. Just sayin.

The CBJ braintrust has said over and over again they would match any offer sheet. Even if Philly had the cap room they wouldn't offer Johanson the money he wants. Nobody will pay him what his agent is holding out for, and nobody will sign him to a massive multi-year deal offer sheet after one great season.

In a world of unicorns, Snow White and 'Everybody lives happily ever after' he would get the money now and everyone would celebrate his upcoming Hall of Fame career for the CBJ. Sadly he lives in the real world.

If he was to get that money then a lock out will be all but inevitable with rookie players getting big paydays after one season.......the guy seems like an ass IMO.

Bergeron is at 6.5, Krejic for 7, Ryan O'Reily at 6, Matt Duchene at 6, Paul Stastny 7, etc. just to name a few and he wants there money after a fricken year!

Guess what, all those players had to sign bridge deals and PROVE THEMSELVES!

Guy seems like a tool.

Wow, what a greedy heartless Russian. Johansenov should just go back to the KHL if he doesn't want to compete for Lord Stanley's Cup.

Well if I was building a team, I'd take him over all those player other than Bergeron or Duchene!

The point is the NHL will not survive if teams give players with ONE good season under there belt contracts that PROVEN PLAYERS are getting.....

If the GMs do then we will have another lockout.

Hard to swallow only getting 3 million when he sees guys like RNH making 6 per.
He should just sign a long term deal for 6x6, both side would be happy. Columbus is paying 5.3 for Horton and RJ is already better than he is

Why are they lucky? That would be a fine outcome for Columbus, seeing as they'd match any offer sheet easily.

Not to be that person, but you've done it in two separate comments now- is there/their/they're really that hard? I learned it when I was like 6 years old. Come on.

To be fair I would take RJ over Krejci, Statsny and ROR.

ROR signed a 5 mil offersheet coming off a 55 point season (first year with more than 26 points)

Duchene signed a 2 year bridge deal for 3.5 per, but he was coming off a 28 point season.

Bergeron skipped the bridge contract, but went for 5 years @ 4.75

Stastny also skipped a bridge and went for 6 years @ 6.5

these are not really great comparables if you are expecting johansen to take 3-3.5
