Blue Jackets, Johansen Further Apart Than We Thought?

While the Blue Jackets and Ryan Johansen's camp met last weekend, and not much progress was made, the two plan to continue talks soon.

That said, their inability to inch closer to an extension is evidently starting to frustrate both parties.

Training camp opens this week and Johansen's camp seems to be on a different planet than the Blue Jackets are as far as what his worth is.

Rumors for weeks have suggested the sides are $2-3 million apart, but now it's being reported that the gap is even larger.

Some excerpts from Aaron Portzline's latest: The two sides are more than $3 million apart each year on a two-year contract...The Blue Jackets have offered between $3 million and $3.5 million per season...Overhardt is asking for roughly $6.5 million, noting than Johansen led the Blue Jackets in scoring (33 goals, 63 points) and was 11th in the NHL in goals last season."

I've maintained all summer long that a deal will eventually be reached, and that Johansen would be in the Blue Jackets' lineup opening night, but as this continues to drag out that appears less likely.
