We didnt lose any major contributors. With the experience of going to the finals
and the fill ins we are better.

Still have Lundquist and a great D

Glass is not Boyle. Stempniak is not Richards. Moore is Moore. You lost Stralman. You aren't as good as the team that lost to LA.

Glass didn't replace Boyle, Stempniak is not here for Richards. We lost the two slowest guys and repalced them with guys that can skate. D Boyle will easily replace Stralman and at the same time the offense lost from Richards.

In my eyes the Rangers have even more speed and depth on the team vs. last year.

I really wish the Pens would have retained him for that price. He could have been that 1W/3W to compliment Dupuis if he still is not up to speed. Plus his 10-20 goals would look good on the 3rd line.

I am still hopping Pens try and grab Penner, Booth, or Mueller on a similar deal.

If lundquist under performs even a little they could very well miss the playoffs, at the same time they could also go back to the cup if everyone plays up to their potential and they stay healthy. There is no way of prediciting hockey.

Glass and Stemp are fast? Riiiight.

I liked Stemp, sorry to see him go, but Glass is dead weight.

I believe almost all Rangers fans (me included some nights) wanted Brian Boyle gone. He was agitating to the fanbase all season with his play on some nights. The slow, gentle giant. He had a great playoff and cashed in on it. Stralman has been replaced by Dan Boyle for the next two years until some of the young D in the system is ready to step in. Poulitot.. well, that contract was insane.

I say NY got quicker and didn't get older or locked into bad contracts. I'll reserve judgement on better or worse once the season starts.

Glass sucked on the Penguins but he was a good 4th liner under AV in Vancouver. Maybe AV can bring that out of him again?

Regardless, there's a strong chance Glass doesn't even dress most nights with Miller and Fast knocking at the door.

They'll be a playoff team primarily due to lundqvist and the D

How about because training camp is still a couple months away? We won't know if this team is better or worse than last years until the trade deadline of next season.

What I do know is that the new players fit AV's speed system a lot more than Richards and Brian Boyle did. These 2 were basically pylons and literally the definition of dead weight.

Losing Stralman sucks but Dan Boyle provides something Stralman doesn't. The Rangers have 4 rock solid defensemen in McD, Girardi, Staal, and Klein but where's the offense from the backend? With Richards bought out, where's the PP QB? Dan Boyle fills both those holes.

Explains why the Rangers weren't willing to offer Stralman more than $4M a year while Staal will probably get extended for $5.5M+

compared to Boyle and Richards, yes! And as I said they are not direct replacements for them. Overall team speed is higher with those guys gone.

I liked Boyle a lot, if you expect a solid 4th line guy and PK specialist, he'll play that role well. He's also better on the wing than at center, he's just too slow to center a line and always played his best there. Best of luck to him on Tampa.
