As far as the trades go, I don't really think it's anything worth anticipating.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that Ryder and Brunner get moved for late round picks to a team that either needs the depth or the salary to reach the cap floor.

Lou does 1 thing at a time. Next is gelinas, then either a trade or carter.

No reason to rush trades. It's extremely beneficial to have all these players under contract especially since several of them are expendable (waivers) due to their cheap contracts...Bernier, Jofey, and Gio. If they suck then bye bye. If they are good then helps make other players expendable.
If both Ryder and Brunner come in and have a great camp then Lou has option of keeping them w hopes of turn around seasons (and waiving one of above players w cheap contract). Or he can trade Ryder and/or Brunner for players that "fit" Devils needs (whatever that may be at that time). Or he can trade one or both for draft pick(s).
Hell, if Lou can bring Carter in for $700k-$900k then he should. Just one more expendable player/contract to test the waters with in training camp. Competition between several players (rookie or vet) for 1 or 2 roster spots is good.

And I've said this before...Ryder will have a good season. He's a UFA next year and will be looking for one last good contract which means if he wants one then he'll have to push it this year.

No way Lou just gives Ryder away (guy is a 20-30 goal scorer) at a reasonable cap hit. That being said most teams are going to be hesitant to give anything good for Ryder due to his one dimensional play (and poor 2013/2014 season). Not going to be that easy to trade him.
Dream world but be nice if Lou could package Ryder and one of quality young Dmen for either Kane or Marleau.

As long as none of them are 1st round picks. NJ can't pick a 1st rounder for poop.

They'd end up using the 10th overall on a guy that was slotted to go mid-late second round who's a typical grinder/3rd liner that's a solid two-way FW that does a little bit of everything, but nothing exceptionally well.
