Nothing lol, not really the need. This could either 1) Prevent the Avs from trading PA or 2) Cause the Avs to trade for someone like JAgr |

So you would rather have a one year rental as opposed to someone with a few years left on the contract ? I think stafford could use a change of scenery and might do well with you guys. |

No, I dont think he is the type of player the Avs would need. For instance Jagr wouldnt be so much for what he can do on the ice (while he can still play one hell of a game) but for what he could do off the ice. However PA is a better player than Stafford for the top 6 and 4mil is a bit much for the Avs to take on.
Considering Tanguay is only out for the year a rental in this case would work fine as well. To replace him we not only need to replace him on the ice but find someone who can take his role as a leader and role model as well. |

I think this puts the Avs in a position where we'll be looking to add a veteran for sure. His arrival really seemed to help on a team full of youth. Maybe the Andrew Ladd type although Winnipeg started winning...
You can slide P.A. up to that Landeskog/Stastny line and keep a solid top 6 so i'm not thinking the Avs will panic here. Not like he played many games as it is.
Just gets a little thin now on the 3rd line when Nate is cookin! I don't want him stuck with Talbot and Mitch? Kids on fire!

I think the the line up will be constantly shuffled though out the season. However a player like Ladd, if he is even available, wouldnt come cheap. He would be a great fit for this team however. |

A sad day indeed. I think that eases up the pressure of trading a guy like Parenteau and it sure looks like maybe Jagr is a viable and really good deadline rental. Intriguing to think of Jagr in an Avs jersey.
Another Forsberg comeback? |

I wonder if this means we see MacK play wing the rest of the year with the Avs picking up a depth center that can kill penalties and handle more of the defensive zone load, or recall Brad Malone and let him finish out the year on the 4th line with Mitchell or Talbot moving to 3C. |

PAP and McGinn wont be moved now for a dman.
however I can see the avs try and move guys like Mitchell, Wilson, draft picks or a prospect or 2 in order to try and to the dcore or to the third line.
Minor moves if anything |

probably not, he will play center with Talbot and Mitchell still, which has worked out pretty well production well based on Macks skill.
Our Top 6 in still good,
O'Reilly Duchene McGinn
Landeskog Stastny Parenteau
Most drastic move is moving PAP down to 3rd and looking for a rental winger for Stastnys line. But more likely is to add to the 3rd line of Talbot, MacKinnon, and Upgraded Winger |

The depth is still there, but if we have an opportunity to move PAP to upgrade the backend, I still think the front office does it. |

Not at the deadline, draft is a different story.
With Tangs out, we need him for the playoff push or else we are really weakening our forward depth.
Unless they pull off a packaged deal with him to get a D and third line upgrade |

Or send away our 1st round draft pick.... |

The team has been over performing all season and reaching the playoffs is still way beyond what anyone expected. I don't think there is a single player the Avs could trade for at the deadline that would help them past the first round. The Avs might get lucky and pull off an upset against St. Louis or Chicago, but they aren't winning the cup this year.
I hope they just take the conservative approach and play with what they have. Give the young guys some playoff experience and make some moves in the off season. |

I agree that the winning the cup could be a long shot, but the missing pieces are obtainable, and the roster has all the components to make a deep run. If we managed to get through St. Louis or Chicago, I think we could get through Anaheim and San Jose. |
