No matter if Smid was redundant with Ference on the books, we got poor value out of him in this trade.

As much as the tendency already seems to be otherwise, I consider the Bryz signing separate from the trade.

...and I don't mind the Bryz signing actually. The Oilers have had bar none the worst goaltending in the NHL this year, it's almost impossible to average less than a .870%, so I can't see how Bryz could possibly be worse.

I REALLY hate losing Brossoit But overall that's a pretty good deal for CGY. I also liked Horak but he was redundant and the organization couldn't figure what he was. Roy is a throw in, he really hasn't developed.

I'm glad to see we have a GM who will make a move when it's warranted. He's not quite Homer crazy(yet), but still trying to improve the team. As long as he doesn't move Hall or Nuge, he can do pretty much anything he wants and I'm ok with it.

2 years ago Smid was just getting his groove of a punishing, stay at home kinda guy. But now, he leaks chances against... doesn't know how to use his stick. He's still a decent 4-6 Dman.

I'm not that excited about Broissoit due to the failure of Bunz. Goalies are so hard to predict, and I'm always a bit hesitant taking a goalie out of the WHL vs the O and Q.
