While I didnt think Smid was anywhere near as good as Oiler fans did. This seems like a terrible deal for EDM. I woulda thought he woulda got a better return.

Smid is a decent second pairing d-man IMO(yes, I know he hasn't looked as good this year). They better be brining in another defensmen or their already horrendous defense just got worse.

Basically Smid for Bryz and prospects, then? Bryzgalov is gonna have to stand on his head behind this defense unless another move is still happening.

Looks like a Brian Burke deal. He never sits still and waits to build through the draft. Maybe this sets up a move for the Flames, to move out a defenseman. Someone like Denis Wideman makes sense, going to somewhere like Philly for more forward depth.

Soooo (arguably) you're sturdiest dman is moved so you have the financial flexibility to sign a goaltender 29 other teams didn't want....

I sure hope that's not it, but I guess Aaron Ekblad is worth it depending on who your asking.
