Dee Karl: Grabner: Breakaway Bad
Imagine if he could score on them. - Dee Karl
Grabner is one of the most effective and important players on this team. The fact that you don't know that speaks volumes. |

Imagine if Dee knew that 12-15% as a shooting percentage is actually quite good.

Her thinking Brent Johnson was in goal the other night was entertaining. |

The fact that he keeps anyone on the blue line on edge is an effective defense in itself. So sick of hearing about Grabner not converting. He will, the guy scores. We all want him to convert more but the fact that he gets those chances is enough. |

The jet-packs on Grabner's skates don't really mean too much if all it does it tire out the opposing teams defense.
I have to disagree, and I don't even know who he is lol |

I'm surprised he hasn't scored on more, but he will. The guy's an underrated, dynamic player. He's not (a young) Ovechkin or (Vancouver) Bure, but he can be as fun to watch as them when he's on his game. |

Underrated by not knowledgable fans and our not so knowledgable coach. If he was given appropriate ice time and line mates consistently he'd be a more consistent 30 goal scorer IMO. |

majority of his breakaways take time off the clock on the PK...he's important to this team...can't imagine if he could combine scoring touch with his speed...he would be one of the leagues most lethal players......
more ice time could help this quite a bit |

I dont think it would be wise for Grabs to stop amd wait for a teammate to catch up to him when he is on a breakaway. After all, its a breakaway. If one of his teammates was with him, it would be a 2-0, not a breakaway. |

Does Dee realize his breakaway aren't like those in the shootout?
You cant pick and choose how you have a break away. Half the time the puck is rolling and he is bring chased and picked at by the other team.
It's not like he can come in with some crafty move at whatever speed he wishes. The result of the back-pressure on him results in a quick, high shot or trying to slide it 5 hole.
He's doing his best and atleast he's generating chances.
EDIT: he has TWO goal on "8" breakaway attempts -- one of those "attemps" was the pass from behind the net that Bailey scored on vs PHX. One of the other "attempts" he didnt get the shot off (tough backchecking limited him to no shot)
So in reality - he has scored on 2 of 6 true breakaways. I'll take it. |

"So the Islanders took yesterday off before an extended road trip. Capitals, Hurricane's, and back-to-back against the Blue Jackets and the Canadiens. They'll want to bring home as many points as possible while bringing home everyone in one piece."
Really... Thats how this works? More points the better?
Why did I just knock off some brain cells for reading this
This just has me question what she is watching during a hockey game... So she magically wants Grabner on breakaway to some how slow down, wait for the dman to catch him and then make a magical drop pass to someone else?
Why did I choose to read this... my first Dee thread in a couple of months

uh not to be a Richard but yea isn't that actually how it works? - rangerdanger94
Thanks Richard for not picking up the obvious sarcasm... Her statement is like me telling you that if Lunqvist doesnt let up any goals the Rangers might win. |
