That would be insane to take on that contract...

The Oil is getting him and Miller for Yakupov and someone else.

Apparently Philly is involved with every name that is out there for being "available".

Oilers, Panthers, Flyers, and the Isles involved in a rumor again...

I bet the Oilers don't take on that contract, I mean, we suck but that's pushin' in.

I would think that unless Ehrhoff demands a trade, he's not going anywhere. This was Pegula's prize when he first took over.

Isles don't want that head case. Hes not good, refused to report to us a couple of years ago and deserves what he gets.

The remaining contract is 7YRs 22MM.

With the last 2 years being 1mm each.

Not terrible.

I think you're mixing his situation up with Nabokov's and Visnovsky's. Erhoff's contract was expiring, the Canucks traded his rights to the Isles after the Cup final. The Isles wanted the extra time to exclusively sign him. He was up front with them saying he didn't want to sign, so they flipped him to Buffalo where he got paid $10 million the first year. Be glad the Isles didn't have to pay that. Now his overall cap hit isn't so bad.

He didn't "refuse to report", as if he had to. His rights were traded to them but he didn't want to sign, which was within his rights.

Thats just not true at all. You may not like him for not reporting, but he plays top pairing minutes every game and does a good job of it.

Curious to see who ends up going in Buffalo and who stays. Since no matter how much losing sucks keeping some vets around to help guide things out of the hole after the losing should be over is key.

Pretty much the same thing. He didn't want to play for them.

I agree. On the surface, the contract looks bad. Underneath, its not, especially for a guy who can play top4 minutes...

Not the same at all. Who knows what the Isles even offered as a contract. I doubt it was close to the Buffalo offer. I would hope Yashin and DiPietro would've discouraged the Isles from making decade long contracts again at that point. Of course with term limits now, they're a moot point.

On the surface yes, but it was at the time of the way to sign a guy was to front load the contract and circumvent the cap. Which is what that contract does, but inside of the rules. Which is completly effed up in its own right.

I wish Philly would just trade for what they want so they aren't involved with every rumor that ever existed.

I can't see the Isles wanting him and his contract, Philly seems like the most logical destination.

Not the same at all. He was still a free agent, he didn't "have to report". So saying he refused to do something implies that he was obligated to.

He said the Flyers haven't expressed interest, just that they could use him. Read it again. It's a very short piece.

The contract is far from insane.

From 2014-2015 on, it looks like this...

4,000,000
4,000,000
3,000,000
1,000,000
1,000,000
1,000,000

He makes $6M his last 4 years COMBINED. That is hardly tough to take.

Even if you took the best players from the Islanders and Buffalo, the merged team would still suck
