Yes, thank you for an actual write up Panac. The only problem is Holmgren, of late, only likes to make trades when we aren't expecting it.....

Doesn't matter what the Flyers will do bc the team isn't that good regardless....

We don't need flyer fans with negative outlooks at this point in time. Give them a month and then decide

Depending on Emery... If he's average, above average, they make the playoffs easy... If not, I think it'll be a long year for the Flyers.

Hall wasn't that good honestly. He was big, good on faceoffs, and good defensively. He was also slow and I wouldn't have confidence putting him out there on a regular 4th line shift. In todays NHL, all lines need to be able to play.

Hall is not slow, and he is perfectly capable of playing a regular 4th line shift.

There are 2 goalies in a tandem for a reason.

I dont really like the idea of trading Mez at all, a large portion of the flyers problems is the D not matching Lavy's system properly and Mez is one of the guys that does fit very well in that system if he doesnt get hurt.

Trading him away for basically nothing which is all they will get for him at this point, does nothing to help the team, especially if they sign gill another D man not suited to lavy's system to fill in his spot.

I'd roll the dice with him, if he gets seriously hurt so be it then you have instant LTIR cap space and can make a move at that point.

If philly brass is content keeping big/slow/shutdown D (which is fine they serve their purpose) then lavy needs to go.. if lavy stays they'd be better off trading grossmann (who I also like but doesnt fit the system)

I'm not trying to troll or hate on Flyers, cause I love the game of hockey. But in reality, besides Giroux, Vorachek, Simmonds, Hartnell, Read, where is/are your secondary scorers? Plus who makes up the bottom six that can crash n grind ?
its becoming a game where teams top 2 lines are great, and bottom 2 lines are hitters and grinders to wear down the other teams.
Also the defense of Flyers is a big question mark as well, after last years disappointment and between the pipes.
Hey all teams have question marks, but this year the conference and division are much tougher...

Couturier, B Schenn, and Talbot supply secondary scoring. Players like Rinaldo, Schenn and Talbot are hitters and grinders. You forgot Lacavalier. This team has plenty of offense. Team defense and responsible play are this team's issues. Not offense.

my bad, forgot about some of those guys........Couturier & Schenn have to over-come their sophomore slump and provide that scoring, its not guaranteed.

Is anything ever guaranteed in Hockey? Every team needs players to play well.

Correct....
I was going by your comment of secondary scoring of guys you named, nothing's guaranteed but consistency is definitely needed by players.
My point being is that both players will be going into year 3, in their 1st year, both helped fulfill the Flyers bottom 6, last year not so much, so which year will show-up in year 3

It remains to be seen. I will tell you that Couturier looks noticeably bigger and stronger this year. I expect him to have a very good year.

Actually a Mez for Mitchell trade would save 2.9 on the cap. Gotta count Mitchell's cap hit, but nobody said you were a cap whiz

I like Mez, real good defenseman when healthy, wish Isles would trade for him.
maybe for a pick, so it helps you completely, more roster room and cap flexibility without taking back anything

Has Gill been that good? I've only seen him in that first game against the Leafs and he didn't look great. I'd like to see him get a contract though.

No, he's looked like a big old, slow guy...they like his locker room presence
