Serious question, not trying to troll or bother anyone, but do you guys think it was an appropriate time to trade for a goalie like Schneider? He's in his prime, and you guys acquired him (well) below market value, but I question the move. To give an outsiders opinion I think your team is in need of stocking up on young talent and draft picks, and I'm not sure if the Devils will be able to compete for much. It could help keep you from having to forfeit a top 10 pick. Best of luck. |

I understand where you are coming from, but Lou has always built from the net out. Plus, we have a logjam of center already, some more talented than others. As good as Bo is, he doesn't quite fit our needs, at least not as much as goaltending You're right, we do lack forward prospects, but Lou has always picked well in later rounds (see Reid Boucher). |

Interesting point...
But, like was mentioned, Uncle Lou has always built his teams starting with the goalie. And that has been successful.
Trading for a top goalie (or should I say, stealing for a top goalie) was the best move for now and years to come. If you have the opportunity to make a trade like that, you do any day.
Yes, we need young talent and David Conte's magic hasnt been very fruitful the last few years. Understood.
But I still rest on... if you can make a trade that adresses your near AND long term needs. You do it.
Young picks are no guarantee of development.
I, personally, think this is one of the best trades Uncle Lou has ever made. |

Our team isn't in as bad of a spot as people like to think. When we signed plenty of talent this offseason. |

I think a trade this season for an upgrade on D and signing a good forward in the offseason will be enough. |

They blindly look at the standings and see we didn't make the playoffs this year. This makes them assume we where not good enough to make it. Which leads them to believe that when Clarkson and Kovy left we became the Calgary Flames of the east. They ignore the fact that we where one of the best teams in the east when healthy and that we did very well in a lot of advanced stat categories, but we just flat out suck to them. Also if you draft right you don't need 15 forward prospects and 15 D prospects you only need a few. How many of the many prospects Brian Burke brought in are playing for the leafs right now 2 ? all the rest of them are playing in the AHL so why do we need to go prospect crazy when it didn't really work for the Leafs ? Their team isn't built through the draft. They didn't draft Clarkson,Bolland,Bernier,Phaneuf,Kessel,Lupul,JVR,Franson,Fraser,Mcclement. They got all of those guys through trades or f/a |

Also if Pete is right about rusty and he does become a good player, we will be a better team than last year.
Teddy won't do poop this year. |

Or Reid Boucher having a full time role - Devils Advocate
I love watching his interviews this kid seems legit. He isn't going to stay out late or cause off ice problems he is a genuine hard working kid who is always finding ways to get better and keep upping his level of play. You watch some other prospect interviews and notice how fidgety they are or some of the answers they give and you just realize the type of guy we have in Boucher he stands out a lot to me in the interviews I am really excited about this kid. |

I am curious to see how Loktionov looks this season. I really hope he continues to improve but I just have a feeling that he might not work out and I hope I am totally wrong. Best case scenario is both Loktionov and Jofeson tear it up early and we move one of the two for a good return. That way we clear up some of the logjam at center and get a solid pick or prospect in return. If Washington is still into giving away top prospects I would love to get Tom Wilson off them |
