Toss up between Nelson and Jackson. That Philly offense is going to move the ball, especially against the Redskins. GB is going up against a very stout defense in the 49ers. |

I get the nod to the anniversary, but a large number in the middle of a jersey is weird, even though hockey teams don't put player's number on the front.
No biggie. Just odd |

I thought this was a little strange. He's definitely a better player than Redmond....but that's not saying a whole lot. He came into to camp in much better shape than last year, but the Steelers still felt he didn't take his job seriously.
Ultimately he fumbled a couple of times in the pre-season after fumbling the ball last year during the regular season at a couple of key moments. That's a good way to find yourself unemployed in the NFL.

Interesting topic on the Sens board about Colin Greening. He would look really good on the Pens 3rd line. I suggested Greening for Niskanen+ |

Not sure Ottawa has a place for him, but they definitely have a space for his salary. Right now, their starting 5 is EK, Phillips, Gryba, Weircioch, and Methot. Corvo and Ceci will battle it out for #6...I really think Ceci could be ready. Pittsburgh would have to add in a + like you said, just not sure what that would be. |

Ceci did not impress me yesterday, but it was the only game I have ever seen him play. |

TIOPS did an interesting column on Nisky. Says the Pens have a pretty high asking price for him. Like a 2nd and 4th/5th or mid prospect. They view him as a good asset and feel he still is improving. Also says they have a scenario in place that keeps Nisky on the roster. Not sure what that means other than trading a "tradeable" player. Engelland doesn't fully get you there. Despres in the AHL and moving Engelland will get them under the cap.
I would imagine Glass is not tradeable but that would be ideal. |

@NHLbyMatty: minny sources say tom gilbert might wind up playing in Switzerland"
If Tom Gilbert can't find an NHL job, the Pens are fooling themselves thinking that there is much of a market for Matt Niskanen. |

You see Whitney might end up in STL as a backup for Pietrangelo?
Add Ron Hainsey to that list (although he might be blacklisted).
Plenty of #4/#5 defenseman out there cheaper than Niskanen (and with no acquisition cost). |

As it stands presently it is not a good market for Ray Shero in regards to Matt Niskanen. Curious to see what will happen in the next couple of weeks with training camp rosters. |
