I like what Columbus new gm is doing, he traded for gaborik which you guys one that trade, and signing Nathan Horton was a big move too hope you guys make the playoffs....devils fan btw

Good blog, Glen. Last season, the injuries to Marty and Kovy really hit at the worst times. We didn't have a goalie past marty that could be a starter in a pinch. I loved moose and he was a more than capable backup but he struggled when called upon to start consecutive games. It will nice to know with our scoring troubles that a little floater from the blueline probably won't decide any games this season. Devils certainly fixed that problem. Offensively, we didn't have any scorer beyond Kovy really. We fixed that problem, unfortunately at the expense of Kovy himself. That is where I think the devils season can be decided. Can we pick up the slack that kovy left without any elite forward? As you mentioned, it will also take a strong bounceback season from our centers. Zajac needs to produce more, Henrique the same thin. Lokti has to prove that he can be relied to produce other than a couple nice stretches.

Blue jackets blogger

Devils did what they could to fill holes (Schneider, Ryder), they replaced players lost to FA or KHL (Jagr, Clowe), lot hey lost dead weight (Tallinder). They have a few very promising players (Loki, Larssen, Olesz). They will hopefully have players return to form (Henrique and Zajac). While this team will not be at the top they will def compete for playoff spot. What I like most is the salary cap space we'll have this year and next to go after one or two big names.

Excellent write up! It is very nice to see that someone other then a Devils fans thinks failry highly of them. I think they compete and make it difficult for all the teams in the metro but they will be in tough and its a toss up for them to make it. I really like the Jackets and if Bob is even half as good as last season I have them making it. I also think it will be cool to see the Jackets and Rangers play on a regular basis after the large amount of players they swapped with each other !

I wasn't very clear I guess but I meant more that Kovy is faster than any of the new adds and I think Clarkson is faster than either Clowe or Jagr. At the end they are a slower team today than they were and maybe that's how I should have worded it.

Bob will need to be great again, no doubt, for Columbus to make the playoffs. This is going to be a tough division and conference for that matter. Ranger and Jackets games are going to be a lot of fun to watch this year. Must see TV.

Clarkson may be faster then Jagr but Jaromir can still skate circles around him. Clarkson is the worst skater in the league hands down. I thought this was well known.
