If I was Selanne I would sign for $2 million knowing that I have a job for life starting next season. If he's looking for the $4 - $4.5 million he's made the last three seasons in this reduced cap year he's kidding himself. I love the guy, but his play is fading fast.
And I know he wants to play to keep himself ready for the Olympics. But that doesn't mean he will produce better this season than he did last season (about a 40-point pace). Play this season will still be condensed because of the Olympics. And he stands to play quite a few games there too. At 43 is he really going to have another renaissance?
He's free to go elsewhere. I'm sure Colorado and San Jose are just hoping for another dance with him (doubtful). Or maybe he wants to board up his beach house and return to Winnipeg for one last crack at missing the playoffs in the freezing cold.
Either way this will be the 5th time in 6 seasons Teemu has held the Ducks hostage during the summer with his "indecision." His retirement dance is wearing thin on this Ducks fan. |

The only 2012 playoff teams that have any cap space to sign Teemu are OTT, NYI, STL, VAN, and TOR. The Canucks make the most sense from a closest to home perspective but I can't see him wanting to deal with Torts in what is most likely his final season. If the Kings or the Sharks had any cap room I could see him signing with either of those teams if Murray is truly low-balling him. I honestly don't think that's the case though. Emerson Etem and Kyle Palmieri emerged last year as competitive players and I think Murray is saying Teemu is going to have to compete with those two along with Penner and Silfverburg for playing time on the top two lines. Nothing is going to be handed to him unlike in previous seasons. |

The Ducks DIDN'T wait around for him this year. Murray signed Penner and traded for Silfverburg. They are loaded at wing, especially if he comes back, which he most likely will. I think the indecision is mostly because he's not guaranteed a spot in the top 6. He's going to have to earn it. |

Would like to see him come back hopefully it's to the ducks. Hate it when fan favorites leave their franchises. |

It'd be awesome if he came back to Winnipeg for what maybe his final season. The thing is... its a helluva lot colder here during hockey season than it is in southern California.
As a fan, I'd love to see him up here... he could get us into the playoffs.
But... if I was Teemu, I'd be thinking more with my head than my heart.

As a Kings fan it goes without saying I would be ecstatic to see him leave. With the utmost respect of course... |

Pretty sure his heart is in California and not Winnipeg. It has been for a long time. His actions have shown that. I guess I dont get why people keep referring to him going back to the Jets as a "Storybook Ending." He has demonstrated how much he loves So Cal and the Ducks organization over the many many years he has played here. He will go into the hall as a Duck and be the first to have his number retired by the Ducks.

As I mentioned in the Palumbos previous Selanne post, I predict Teemu re-signs with the Ducks for a retirement tour season which will see him hit every venue this season along with playing for team Finland in Sochi.
Further, I do not see him doing the story book ending with Winnipeg since the only have 1.6 mil of cap space and he has a home in the OC where his children go to school and play sports.
The only way I can fathom him not playing in Anaheim this season is if contrary to Murrays comments, Bruce insists that Teemu not be added or accept an even more diminished roll. I just don't see it and I became 95% plus positive that Teemu returns after one of our other Premier RW's was traded to Ottawa. And yes, I said RW because Bobby Ryan is a RW and not a LW or C as the Ducks have continually tried to cast him since they had Perry and Selanne. |

No matter what he says in an interview, he's not going to leave the city where his kids go to school. |
