I wouldn't put it past him, maybe Kovy really was torn between NJ and Russia (like he was after the lockout) and Lou gave him a little push there. If you sit back and look at it from a distance, Lou was never a big fan of these contracts (Hossa,Kovy,Pronger) and it was the ownership that pushed him for Kovy so maybe Lou decides he'll get rid of Kovy without making the owner look bad now that the owner wants to sell most of his shares. Owner happy, Kovy's happy (getting more money and going home) and best of all Lou is happy. It's not that far fetched.
