What a lousy headline (as usual), I thought they closed the Coliseum.

Saw this on twitter about the Perron Trade:

David Staples @dstaples 11h
Oilers got best player in trade and he's still a young guy in peak years. Gut reaction: Hard to see how Perron trade isn't an #Oilers win.

The funny thing is she gives the same amount of thought provoking information whether anything is going on or not. Nice headline Dee. Like I always say, keep up the good work

This is one of the big issues that separates the good from the bad. Understand this statement.

"absolutely ANY piece of hockey news becomes important" , This is so, not true.

Even during the off season, crap is crap.

And here I thought we were getting more whining about the team moving to Brooklyn. Instead it's about 75 words telling us about something we already knew.

Another strong commercial for Wang, Dee. I'm amazed you aren't PR director yet.

Lee- I am very hopeful that Anders will be the power forward we hope ..but.. even though he got 2 points in his first 2 games I believe he was -2 in those games. There was one particular very long shift where he looked absolutely lost out there when Isles couldn't get it out of their own end. I remember watching him thinking "WTF is he doing" and then remember neilsen getting very frustraded when they scored and looking at him (angry at first.. then realizing who it was he sat next to him on bench and u could see Franz coaching him). He is still a kid and I am not by any stretch saying This is a huge problem.. but he has a lot left to learn AND he needs to work on his skating.

Bailey- Many are really ready to trade Bailey (again). I am not in that camp. He is a 23 year old kid and in my mind gets better every year. I think we forget how young he was when forced into this line up. This is the year Okposo finally snapped out of it... and he might too. Actually if you asked me last year 10 games into the Season I would have put Bailey ahead of Ok. He is a very responsible player and always seems to be first forward back checking. he needs to shoot more and stop trying fancy plays (the blind drop pass in particular).. .but I really am hopeful he explodes this year.

I don't understand how she can say there is nothing hockey related, all the other bloggers don't seem to have a problem finding things about their team

We have been saying this for a few years. I really hope he does but if gets off to a real sluggush start him and Bailey well then Islanders need some major decsions

Bailey was put on the top line at the end of last year for a reason. I don't understand why everyone is so negative on him. It's like all anyone looks at are points and that's it... if he is not scoring a goal a game he stinks. (not an attack on u Kasper just stating a feeling in general)

My fear with Okposo is how Slow he started last few years. To me that is a off season work out issue. Obviously JT, Moulson, and now Strome have some sick work out at some camp together all summer (same one St. Louis attends). This has worked to make them better players every year. If Ok starts slow again I will be pretty peeved that he seems to come to camp not ready.

Agreed...really liked the creativity he showed with JT....I think he needs to be on that line for a bit....course Garth will have to pay top line minutes then...

I would bet he gets a deal before that happens. just for fun.. his qualifying offer was 1.3 mill. He is probably looking for 2.5 ish mill... maybe gets 1.75 mill? what u think?

I think 1.75 would be a good number, I have not compared his stats to others around his, to be fair. I think this is his year to do great things, and become that player he was drafted to be. I would give him a 2 year deal, and if he is not performing to the expected level this year, trade him before the dead line.

I mean I would take Bailey over KO and you are right about KO. If he can get off to a hot start and keep it going all year he would be a beast

3-4 years, $2M-$2.5M per. I wouldn't go any longer or more money with Bailey than that. But I'm not the GM...

I was at that game and he was covering the point man and looked petrified that the guy was gonna pinch and get ahead of him. He looked completely lost. I'm hoping that it was just that he didn't know the system so he resorted to hockey 101 when it comes to defensive zone coverage. He seemed very unsure about his ability to catch up to the defensemen. Certainly something he should be working on this offseason.

I don't think anyone says he stinks...you can't really argue that the skill-set is there...it's just that, as with Okposo, he has yet to deliver consistently, and that probably prevents him from hitting the jackpot in arbitration. Let's face it, that Bailey-Nielsen-KO line was doing a whole lotta nothing until they were sat down and told they would start drawing the tough defensive assignments, and to concentrate on that rather than scoring. Up to that point, Grabner was outscoring the three of them combined with far fewer 5-on-5 minutes. Once the Nielsen line was settled down into a more defensive role, the offense grew out of that and they were the best line on the team from then until the end of the season. With all three of them, the challenge seems to be getting them to a good place mentally. Once there, they're damn good hockey players.
