3:08 pm: It gets more interesting by the minute. So not only is today Ryan Strome's birthday, but there will be a 'special' guest in attendance this evening at the scrimmage.

It seems that Brett Yormark will be at the coliseum tonight. Thanks to savetheisles.blogspot.com for noticing that on Yormark's Twitter feed. Wonder who he'll be firing.

11:52 am: And a hat tip to Jeff Capellini, @GreenLanternJet for this "nugget" of information regarding ex-NYI Travis Green who is slated to be announced as the head coach of the new AHL Utica Comets team in Utica NY.

Travis was chosen 24rd over all by the NYI in 1989 and was part of the franchise until the '97-'98 season when he was sent to the Anaheim Ducks.

Good luck to him.

7 am: Until the new hockey season rolls around. You know, that stretch of summer that just breaks a hockey fan's heart when absolutely ANY piece of hockey news becomes important. That stretch of July and August that makes every Puck Junkie shake with withdrawals. (We need a patch for this.)

Yep. After tonight's Prospect scrimmage and skills competition, the only thing you'll see on the Coliseum ice until late September will be Disney.

So if you can, come down to the Coliseum tonight and see how Griffin Reinhart has grown and how Ryan Pulock has shaken off the jitters of being drafted just a few days ago.

There will be merchandise sales and special discounts for season ticket holders, but us non-STHs will get discounts too. Get some autographs and spend the evening in the cool air before the dog days of summer descend on us.
