I think everyone is tired of all the waiting. Time for the rubber to hit the road already! |

Does he do anything else?
If Letang was under contract it would be a different story, but for a guy who looks like he is going to go to the highest bidder, why give up assets to negotiate early when he will likely wait until July 5th anyway? |

He is under contract for next year, for like 3.5mil, then UFA after next season. |

Hmm, I guess it would depend then on if you thought you could afford (under the cap) him at around $8m per season after next year. I'm thinking this isn't in the Canucks budget, so no real point in discussing it. |

I like Letang and all but I would never want to pay him 7.5mil. I think even 7mill is too much for that guy. |

I'm not sure about "mean", he does like his chicken wings though. |

It's the same situation as Staal last year. They're trying to extend him as soon as they can and if they can't they'll trade him.
It took a roster player, a prospect and a #1 to get Staal. It'll take the same with Letang. |

Unless it's a sign and trade it's way too much for Letang. Even if it's a sign and trade it's definitely not too little. Letang wants $7.5M for 8 years. That's crazy money for a guy who is good at one end of the ice. |

" The defence is the starting point to the offseason overhaul. They all play like a bunch of freaking pussies and while Torts may change that a little, adding a guy to show them that no one is safe is what needs to happen. Go get Kris Letang and if the price is too high for him add a solid nasty guy. "
So they play like pu$$ys but big bad letang will toughen them up? |

I agree. Unless he turned it down simply because he wanted out of Pitt. There were rumours he was pissed at Management for slagging him in the press a little. |

The cap would need to skyrocket and the twins would need to take big hometown discounts in order to fit Letang in at the $7.5M+ he wants. Too much money for that guy, but someone'll give it to him. |

Really don't want Letang in Vancouver. Way too much salary to be giving to another d man, especially an offensive minded one. I'd prefer to keep Edler and save the extra 2+ million on more depth. |

Luongo for Letang straight up, then don't re-sign him next year |

That's right. That being said you can't believe all the reports you hear. One from Pitts had some within the Penguins organization having Marting ahead of him on the depth chart.
I'm just waiting for the Letang to the buds for Phaneuf + rumours. |

I love this quote from TSN "Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported on Wednesday that Letang preferred the Toronto Maple Leafs atop a potential list of teams to go to should he be unable to sign an extension with the Penguins."
Who gives a frank what he would prefer |

Maybe if Garrison is going back the other way it makes more sense?
Something like: Garrison, Lack and a #1?. |
