Obviously he is happy sitting in the press box and play his 20 games.
Not really a big deal... need Hamonic, Streit (for 2 years max), and Bailey resigned!!!
Nabby for another season??? - jimmc7722
I don't know, man. I know Streit's a huge asset with breakout passes. But he seemed to just get worse and worse in his own zone. I'm not sure what I'd like to see on D. It'd be great if they could work a trade for a player that's really sound in his own zone but not completely clueless in the offensive zone. They could use that...maybe then you won't have Strait stuck out there trying to defend against Sidney Crosby.
Short of that, I really wouldn't mind Donovan getting a shot. I don't at all think he can replace Streit, but I think Vis can, then someone else can slide into Vis' spot, and so on.

I agree... but the FA market is dry, so we either keep him, try and trade for another D or try Donovan.
I just think it's good to keep him around until we can find a replacement.
I'm expecting Garth to do nothing, yet again. He SHOULD be looking to upgrade in goal, on D and a winger for Tavares, but we all know he won't deal any of his prized draft picks for anything substantial.

I'm a little more optimistic now with the recent success of the team and the move to Brooklyn. It should be a much easier sell now to prospective players when they see the young, talented team that has been assembled on a very merger budget and the new rink. I think now is the time to add a few pieces through FA and some wingers are going to be very intent on trying to play along side Tavares, who is easily in the top 5, for forwards, in the league.
Even if they gave Boulton a $1 it would be a waste of money.. ... who is the next signing Brad Boyes...jeesh - kear20
If Boyes is re-signed I'll be ticked off. But Boulton I expected. In all the mock lineups and stuff for next season I always included "Boulton or a similar enforcer" as an extra forward. They're not expensive, they have uses, they don't take up a regular roster spot, and, well, a good fight is entertaining and gets the team pumped up.
Boyes...he'll want the kind of money that's better spent on a different player (I know we're nowhere near the cap, but we all know the team operates under an "Islanders cap," and the $3.5M or whatever they'd have to spend on him is better spent elsewhere, imo), and he takes up a regular roster spot.

If he goes into negotiations looking for his payday like Parenteau did then he's not coming back. He's a year older so he could very well be thinking along the same lines that this could be his last contract. Personally I think that if Snow thought he was the answer for the first line he would have already extended him. He's very quick to sign guys he thinks are the right fit. See: Strait, McDonald, Visnovski.
Snow was on HNIC radio and briefly mentioned allowing spots for the younger players. This move doesn't seem very conducive to that. - TheRollingPuck
Boulton's fine, he'll play 20-25 games and 3 minutes when needed, it's not him that's blocking a kid. Streit, Boyes and Aucoin will be replaced by Donovan, Niederreiter/Strome and Nelson/Strome
Those are the positions we'll have open and fortunately we have some very good looking prospects ready for those spots

Same here UIF. I think it's a horrible sign if Boyes is re-signed. I think Streit should be let go as well. Isles need to move forward with their own prospects or better trade options. Making the playoffs was great now the Isles have to aim higher and Boyes and Streit will not help in this area.
streit is gone this year. He is going to Free Agency.
Seems he was offered same or similar contract to Viz and thought he was worth more.
We can find someone to take his place. Viz is better anyway.
Resign Martinek again. He stayed Healthy. Give Hickey Regular shift and sign one more good Bruising dman.
Carkner earned alot of respect from me in Playoffs.
