No, he didn't target the head, unless Del Zotto has eyes in the back of his head. He never turned and saw Neal, he just felt pressure coming and braced himself for the hit. Definitely worth a two minute minor but nothing more.

Meh .... I would suspend him for the fact that he jumped while turning his back and elbow towards him .....

Not even a 2 minute minor.

Neal deserves it anyways. He's been suspended multiple times for dangerous plays.

How is randomly throwing an elbow "bracing himself"?

I agree he didnt intentionally do it, it just kinda happened the game is very fast.

I don't see how you can suspend for that... it's like the Matt Cooke/Karlson incident. Could Del Zotta honestly have planned to leap and blindly elbow Neal directly in the mouth while not even being 100% aware of where he was?

Seems like one of those unfortunate hockey incidents where someone gets injured but it probably wasn't done maliciously... if it was, I don't see how that could be determined.

No suspension imo... maybe karma for the Cooke skate thing ;-)

So I guess I would be attacked for saying I hope Brayden Schenn rips his ACL because he takes alot of liberties flying through the air injuring players, right?

He knew exactly what he was doing IMO and I think the majority of the Penguin players would agree based on their behaviour after.

Look at the play again. He saw Neal was behind him. He didn't need eyes in back of his head because he saw him. A fine should happen.

The game was already very heated anything that happened caused a stir up. Just hope Neal gets well soon.

Neal was crouched down, I think that lends to the play as much as Del Zotto's actual hit. He didn't throw his elbow out, he just stopped and reacted when Neal came up to hit him.

Semantics though, hope Neal is not hurt for too long, there was definitely no malice to this play.

So Dupuis intentionally trying to take Del Zotto's head off, during an icing touch up is ok to you? I see

By his body language, Del Zotto didn't know that it was icing, let alone Dupuis.

Where is this elbow people talk about?

I did not see Del Zotto's elbow make contact with Neal.

I think any player who throws dirty hits deserves any dirty hits he receives, whether he plays for my favorite team or not.
