Haven't you been reading the posts? The oilers have no chance of making the playoffs, 5 points back with everyone log jammed together and 23 games left makes it hopeless for them and they will probably be dead last in the league again as all 29 other teams are playing light years ahead of the oilers this year. Come on Clouts.

Well its obvious the Oilers are not going to improve the team and jeopardize a top 3 pick, so if they sell or buy is immaterial to us. In the meantime we will be happy to discuss trades etc... like we`ve done in previous years disillusioned thinking that Lowe and company care. Besides, Seth is a couple losses away

Nice how you have no team attached to your avatar. Whats it like to be able to troll anywhere while displaying no team that you cheer for to be fired back upon?

Yeah, great post! If you live in fantasy land! OMG, I love how apparently the Oilers are going to acquire talent without really giving anything up! This is a constant with Richie! Buyers or sellers, other teams don't want the Oilers secondary players.

Teams are going to be interested in the Oilers top six and top prospects and if they cant get those they'll be interested in the Oilers top picks, but apparently Richie feels they won't and will not have to give up any of that to become a better team.

Not to mention the crusty thick layered hypocrisy he trawls out when it comes to calling other teams "train wrecks". Can't do anything but laugh at that.

Good luck with that Richie! Love your blogs!

LOL, I was an Oilers fan,,,, and still am somewhat but, the way management has ruined the organization and continue to do so what do you want me to say. Now I enjoy watching the CBJ`s, Leafs, Philly and Boston. So what, least they don`t Tank as a way to build their teams. You should watch, it`s refreshing to see organizations wanting to win and wheeling and dealing to build contenders instead of losing and sitting on their arses doing nothing to come in last every year.

I don't think it's fair to say the oilers don't want to win. That would be foolish.

Mind you, don`t get me wrong. The players want to win but, without the support of upper management it`s a long shot and a depressing battle.

Um the leafs don't tank? They were at the top of the league last year till the allstar break then tanked to get a top five pic. Montreal sold hard at the deadline and ended up picking 3rd overall. Yup. the oilers are the only team that tanks for draft picks.

My God you're being foolish! Look at all the trades that have taken place this year; which of them have had top-half roster players or top prospects from either side being traded? Yeah, that's what I thought. The Oilers may not have a butt-load of high-quality depth talent, but they have a few players that could bring in a solid return. What other team's players did he mention that had significant value that really made you scoff or did you- like a deal of others- forget how to read?

AK was a problem and ya he was traded for picks, Gill was near useless other than the PK, and Cammalleri was traded for Rene Bourque...I wouldn't call that selling hard. The Habs underachieved like no other last year. Not to mention injuries were a huge factor. These trades didn't even touch the core of the team aside from Cammalleri. Not selling hard IMO.

Ganger for alanzer sounds good and fair. Please make it happen.
Next the center who fills the second line role is barkov or some other big center from this years draft. THe oilers will still miss the playoffs and draft high again so I think it's possible they can get barkov.
Next your future third line center could be another center from this years draft say lazar. I"m not sure if his stock as fallen enough that the oilers could grab him in the second round and they'd be better off getting a second first round pick to make sure they can get him. Sadly that'll probably mean smid goes and i love him to death.
Lastly can we get kreider out of NY? I love that kid he's big and skates well, so what if he slumps a bit right now he's still a good fit for us.

I have been a big supporter of the Oilers patience through their rebuild.

And, I was certain that this was the year the Oilers would compete for and gain a playoff spot. I thought if they made the playoffs they would be a dangerous opponent and could go deep.

Now I fear that the Oilers have come to the point where they need to accelerate their compete level by acquiring the specific assets they need to fill out their roster.

Love Nu.Hop but he needs the opportunity to play as a #2 or #3 center. The kid is being pushed way too hard by expecting him to compete against every top line center and top defensive pairing in the league. Also, need a horse on defense.

So, the Oilers need to pass on trade deadline deals. They need to go directly to the draft and be prepared to deal their #1 pick or one of the super kids to acquire a #1 center and/or the Dman who can help them win games out of the gate next year.

Look at the teams who are tight against the cap and have some good young players of their own to resign. I would, for example, offer the #1 pick for Drew Doughty or, possibly, Voyonov. LA will likely need to deal one of them based purely on contract demand. I would also offer up a #1 for Weber if Nashville decides they need to get out from under the weight of the financial demands of his $12m up front pay outs.

Bishop for a 2nd and 4th? This is insulting...no deal. You say that you will give us a 2nd and laugh in our face when we meet in the finals in 2016 and you ride on Bishop? He's #1 goalie buddy...we know it and when you have him on your team, you will know it.

I don't want to trade him, but we have no choice...unless Anderson goes but then, I don't want that either. I don't want any of my goalies to go

Murray should ask a 1st for Bishop and not trade if no one is offering...reason why Bishop is not playing alot is because of is contract. We're limitating is ice time for a reason.

I would take Bishop and 6th for Pajaarvi...that is how I see Bishop. No deal? Go for M. Smith

Sens won't get a 1st for a goalie who has only played 8 games and has a 4-4 record. Keep him, no one cares.

I think Ottawa does a lot better if they wait until draft week to trade a goalie.

And, I think, they keep Bishop and deal either Anderson or Lehner. Bishop may be a #1 but Anderson and Lehner are elite players expecting to play as a #1. Ottawa gets a much better return by dealing the current star Anderson or future star Lehner.

Lehner is the best young goalie since Cary Price. Insiders know he is the real deal. Ottawa has been super careful in his development. He is the guy that teams should chase.

Have you been living under a rock or just not paying attention. Being wrong is okay. Being lazy is inexcusable.
