Do they send him home and buy him out right away like Gomez/Redden?

The is the best news isles fans have gotten since they drafted Tavares. You don't know the torture the last few years. It's been awful the guy can barely stand up. Thank god. Almost nothing can ruin this news

Doesn't sound like it yet. But you saw him play the other night. It's embarrassing

There is a God!!!!....nothing can ruin my day now!!

What team would WILLFULLY choose to have about $9 million in dead cap space devoted to goalies who won't be playing for them?

Do you know who we are?

Waiving DiPietro negates any benefit of not having to actually pay Thomas.

Waiving DP is completely beneficial in itself and negates any TT downfall!!

Bring back the mighty teal colour to the Islanders - its the only move that will right their ship. Trust me.

good for DiPietro if he can get ouut from under that deal. he's still young enough that he can have a decent career if he stays healthy (haha) and getting out from under the weight of that deal could be a big boost. Tim Thomas didn't become an elite goalie until his mid-30s...

No it's not. I've been much happier many times since drafting Tavares.
