Good read Richard. I think the flames are
not quite as bad as you make it sound,
even though it is music to my ears.

I'll be honest, when I saw "Oil Price Rising" I thought you were going to suggest a Price to EDM rumor. Thank the gods that didn't happen!

I notice that you didn't point out a team that Calgary could use as a trading partner for Kipper. If I may make a suggestion, the Capitals seem to be in the perfect situation for him. They have two young potential starters that are currently struggling behind a team that, to be frank, is better than it's record would indicate. Adding a goalie of Kipper's caliber could be the ideal move to kick them up a notch and help tutor one of Holtby or Neuvirth. In Calgary's case, they'll likely be looking for a potential replacement for Kipper along with a young roster player. I'm not certain on how each team values their players, but I think a case could be made for a deal like:

To WSH: Kipper

To CGY: Neuvirth, Johansson, 2013 2nd

Flames will end up having a rebuild shoved down their throats. And we've seen it coming for years now.

I think even Columbus are in a more enviable than Calgary position going forward. The Flames really need to change their plan.

You have to like the way Columbus is shaping up. They have 3 1st round picks in a great draft (2 will be top 10). They already have some solid talent in their system. Kekalainen is also a really sharp evaluator of talent (Ottawa, St. Louis).

Calgary is caught between the unfolding Edmonton story and the impending Columbus charge. St. Louis is a goal tender away from being the best team in the West. All are following a draft prescription.

You cannot tell your fans and season ticket holders everything is hopeless. Feaster knows what needs to be done. He will deal J.Bo and others for picks and prospects. It will take a first round pick (or prospect equivalent) to get the job done. Watch for Philadelphia to push the J.Bo envelope.

as much as I want the Flames to suck, they are only 2 points I think behind the Oil...they really aren't as bad as you make it seem, I do agree that the teams are going in opposite directions, but why do they seem to have our number?? if there is one team I want them to pound everytime, it's the Flames

You mean Lord Stanley, Yeah, the Leafs won it too, but I was 6 months old. And the parade is still going.

Depending how late Oiler's are drafting, I would look at Bo Horvat. Real solid center with the Knights who can do it all. Though he isnt listed huge he seems to play bigger and once he starts throwing his weight around even more he will be a stud.

CBJ is much further along than most think. They have a solid D with many guys coming up like Murray. Dansk coming up in net, plus Mason, Brobosky are on the younger side although neither will probably be your #1 in the long term. They basically need a few top end forwards to go along with Jenner, Johansen, etc.

With those 3 first round picks this year and 2 most likely in the lottery they have a chance to really get moving on the up side. After this season they're probably only 2 years behind the oilers.
