Shattenkirk plays the right side, and goes all-offense at times. That means he needs someone who's defensively responsible paired with him and plays the left side. Jackman is by far the best option the Blues have.

He has a KHL contract through next season. Blues will have to wait till it's done to try and sign him.

I'd say the blues are more apt to deal with injuries than just about any team in the league, at least among forwards. They've already been forced to deal with long term injuries for the last two years and they're deeper now than they ever were during that time.
