I think he just doesnt want to do training camp. Even though football is different its kind of like Farve waiting to sign till ota and training camps were basically over. Kovy is in game shape for sure. Also thinks he wants to do the allstar game before leaving. As for the GM saying hes going to do all he can to keep Kovy, you can say as much as you want, doesnt mean its going to happen. Better then saying to your teams Fan base it was nice Kovy came to play back home,we hope he has fun in the NHL. |

He'll be back. Now that there's an agreement in place between the NHL and the KHL, the KHL, despite what Medvedev would have you believe, cannot just arbitrarily decide when it will apply. Given that the Olympics are in Russia next year, the probability that Kovalchuk will be disqualified from international play will force him to come back. I don't expect the Devils to be Radulov'd.

I can remember the day I learned about Radulov signing in the KHL in the summer of 2008. It sucked and I didn't believe it at first. That whole league seems a little shady to me in how it operates. The Preds have missed the playoffs one time since 03-04 and that was the year right after Rads left.
I do think you will get your guy back after their all-star game, but the whole waiting game sucks. I don't think I would make him captain though if he seems non-committal to returning to NJ |

Pretty much, it would be nice to see Lou tell Kovy to get lost when he tries to rejoin the team before the playoffs or next year. |

I love kovy as a player but if he really is thinking about not only turning his back on the devils, but the NHL as a whole I say good riddance. Would rather have someone who wants to be here anyway |

what does that do to the cap? I thought I heard players going back to Europe would still count against the cap after the first 900K. |

From what I understand if he decided to not come back the NHL would void his contract. Hopefully this is all being blown way out of proportion as usual. |

Todd Cordell: SKA GM Will "Do Everything Possible" To Keep Ilya Kovalchuk In The KHL - Todd.Cordell
it was reported that the Redwings allowed Datsyuk to stay for the allstar game
see Kovy all you had to do was ask...not threaten...smh Datsyuk as always the classiest of them all
on the other hand some of you guys need to look at it from a different perspective, what Kovy's doin right now is something that Bettman or whoever's in charge when this current CBA ends will have to consider this as a major issue, actually losing players to another league and who knows how much better the KHL as a league will be by then |

He wants to stay. Let him stay then NHL.
THIS is te guy you want to be your captain? Really? Pathetic, greedy SOB.
You don't see Datsyuk, Ovi, Malkin saying stuff like that.
Hope NHL makes him stay |

This is really a bad move by Kovy. If he does not think players are taking notice to this, he is dead wrong.
If he does come back, he is going to get run.
Are his "brothers" going to stand up for him? |
|
|
|
Who cares. Kovy is a waste of money. As a Devils fan, I would rather see him stay there and use the money here to better the team. |
