2013-2014 is gong to be an interesting year. We'll have a full season with some talented rookies chomping at the bit, and several veterans in a contract year. If the Sabres do well, they will have some veteran assets to trade away for more youth or to extend a contract to depending or how they are still fitting in with the team. All they need to do is play well for the next year and a half and I think this organization will be on the upswing for quite a while....psyched.

Fun "stat":

Only 6 players are signed beyond 2013-14 - Leino, Stafford, Kaleta (thrilling offensive guys under contract), Myers, Ehrhoff, Sekera

Of those, only Leino, Ehrhoff and Myers are signed beyond that season.

Who cares? Well, those of us who like to see signings.

No out of conf. games I believe. 5 vs Div rivals and 3 each vs other 10 teams so 50 hopefully.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

No question target is 50-game, not 48-game, season. Speculation is it would be 5 games vs 4 division rivals and 3 games vs 10 Conf rivals.

Seriously guys Im sick of seeing every 2nd article on the site being about that Grigo guy. You would think hes the next Crosby or Malkin by coming here. The guy wasnt even a top 10 pick give it a (frank)ing rest.

Do I see articles about Yakupov 16 time a day? No
Do I see articles about Forsberg 16 time a day? No
Do I see articles about Rielly 16 time a day? No
Do I see articles about Galchenyuk 16 time a day? No

Forberg was on the WJHC ALLSTAR team and I dont think Ive seen a article on him here yet. So Relax... Grigo isnt exactly tearing up a very weak QMJHL while playing on a very solid line. Espisito 2.0. Lots of hype but fell flat on his face in his draft year and could never recover. Thanks for reading

How on earth will Leino NOT be bought out at the end of this year?

if he has a good year would be my answer to that........don't get me wrong, I'm all for buying him out, but what if he puts up 35-40 points in 48 games?

Everyone knows he isnt worth that contract, if he doesnt get bought out at the end of the year ill be surprised. We brought him in needing a center, his role has been filled with Hodgson and Ennis taking over the top 2 spots. We have better wingers than him, so I just cant see us keeping him.

He certainly was not worth his contract last year.

Let's see what Ville brings to the ice this year and then act.

From what I have heard, you can not buy out any players contract until next season anyway.

That would be something, but his name is Leino, not Leinorenko

Does the buy out option go into effect after the short season or after next season? I thought I understood it to be after the 13-14 season but I'm on a New Years diet and not thinking straight.

Nevermind, I found this: Per Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet, teams will be allowed to exercise buyouts in the 2013-14 and 2014-15 offseasons only. They are also allowed to use both in one year
